Faie

Faie was a clone trooper of human origin who attained the military rank of Clone Commander within the Grand Army of the Republic. Serving under the command of Jedi General Quinlan Vos in his unit, Commander Faie's rigid adherence to regulations and serious demeanor often frustrated his Jedi superior. Faie was dispatched to the planet Saleucami, and subsequently to the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk, with the mission of defending it against the forces of the Separatist Alliance. Following the chaos of Order 66, a directive mandating the immediate execution of all Jedi, Faie assumed command of the Galactic Republic's troopers. During the Great Jedi Purge, a wounded Vos defeated Faie before he could destroy a Wookiee village.

Biography

Earlier life and service

Clone Commander Faie made use of customized clone trooper armor.

Born on the planet of Kamino through the process of cloning using the DNA of Jango Fett, a bounty hunter who served as the template for the Grand Army of the Republic, the individual known as Faie was a clone trooper who held the military rank of Clone Commander. Faie was among the many commanders specifically trained for combat during the Clone Wars, a conflict that spanned the galactic scale between the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Alliance.

In 19 BBY, as the Clone Wars reached their conclusion, Commander Faie received orders to dispatch to Saleucami, a planet that was part of the Foundry of the Confederacy. He was joined by Clone Commander Neyo from the 91st Mobile Reconnaissance Corps and Clone Marshal Commander Bly of the 327th Star Corps.

Kashyyyk and Order 66

The Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk, situated in the Mid Rim Territories, was a strategic objective for the Separatists. Consequently, Jedi General Luminara Unduli was in command of Kashyyyk's defenses, supported by Jedi Grand Master Yoda and Jedi General Quinlan Vos in 19 BBY. Subsequent to his time on Saleucami, Commander Faie was also deployed to Kashyyyk. Both Faie and general Vos, within whose unit Faie served, engaged in a vicious campaign against droid forces, ensuring the planet remained under Republic control. During the Battle of Kashyyyk, Darth Sidious, a Dark Lord of the Sith who was publicly known as Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine of the Republic, contacted clone trooper officers across the galaxy, instructing them to initiate Order 66. This protocol designated the Jedi as traitors and mandated their immediate execution, marking the beginning of the Great Jedi Purge.

Commander Faie utilized a cloak with his clone armor.

As clone troopers turned against their Jedi Generals, Republic forces descended into chaos. Taking advantage of the situation, Separatist forces, led by the ST-series super tactical droid General Linwodo, established a beachhead and prepared to assault the city of Kachirho. Despite the deaths of Clone Commander Gree of the 41st Elite Corps and Clone Captain Jek of the Ranger Corps during their attempts to assassinate Master Yoda in accordance with Order 66, Commander Faie was able to quickly reorganize the Republic forces and secure a decisive victory over the Separatists. Subsequently, clone operations shifted to hunting down remaining Separatists and Jedi who had escaped the initial purge. Under Faie's command, clone scout troopers utilized All Terrain Reconnaissance Transports, including those from the 41st Ranger Platoon, to search for Yoda and Vos within the bogs and forests of Kashyyyk.

Although Yoda successfully evaded capture, a wounded Vos managed to strike down Faie before the commander could destroy a Wookiee village in his pursuit of the Jedi. Unduli was captured and imprisoned, eventually dying in custody. Vos survived Order 66 and later assisted the organization known as the Hidden Path in rescuing Force-sensitives and Jedi survivors. While Vos's ultimate fate remained largely unknown, the Inquisitorius, a dark side organization dedicated to Jedi hunting within the Republic's successor government, the Galactic Empire, believed Vos had survived and included him on a list of high-priority targets alongside other presumed survivors, such as Yoda.

Personality and traits

As a clone, Commander Faie possessed the physical characteristics of a human, standing at a height of 1.83 meters (6 ft), weighing eighty kilograms, and having tan skin. Faie embodied the ideal soldier according to the Kaminoan engineers who created him, displaying a strict adherence to regulations and a serious demeanor. This rigid attitude often caused friction with his Jedi General, Quinlan Vos, who was known for his more flexible approach.

Skills and abilities

Commander Faie, as a clone trooper officer, received extensive training in combat.

Equipment

From birth, like all clone troopers, Faie was implanted with a behavioral modification biochip by the Kaminoans to ensure compliance with specific orders. Commander Faie wore a distinctive set of white customized Phase II clone trooper armor featuring circular light brown markings on the limbs. His helmet also displayed a similar marking, a circle located on its right side. The helmet incorporated respirators, a mouthpiece, and two small visors for the eyes. Additionally, a pentagonal attachment was positioned on the top of the helmet, centered above the visors. Faie also wore a white cloak over his armor and carried a DC-15A blaster rifle along with a light brown utility belt.

Behind the scenes

Concept art of Faie for Revenge of the Sith

Clone Commander Faie made his debut in the new Star Wars canon as a bust produced by Gentle Giant Studios exclusively for Premier Guild members. This hand-crafted polyresin bust, released in 2016, was inspired by concept art created for Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, the concluding chapter of the prequel trilogy, which premiered on May 19, 2005. Originally intended to be the clone seen on Saleucami, Faie's digital model was ultimately replaced by CC-8826's, leading to a corresponding name change for the character. Consequently, Faie did not appear in the film. Faie's name is a tribute to Fay David, a Supervisor in the Lucasfilm Art Department.

Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, Faie first appeared in the seventy-fourth issue of Dark Horse Comics' Star Wars: Republic comic-book series, released on March 23, 2005. The comic issue was written and illustrated by John Ostrander and Jan Duursema, respectively.
