Hevy

Hevy, known for his proficiency with heavy weapons, earning him his moniker, was a clone trooper with the designation CT-782. He served the Grand Army of the Republic throughout the Clone Wars. Hevy was bred using the genetic blueprint of the bounty hunter Jango Fett. As a clone cadet within Domino Squad, he underwent training on the planet Kamino. After completing his training, Hevy was assigned to the Rishi Moon, a location of strategic importance near the Kamino system. The Confederacy of Independent Systems, aiming to cripple the Republic Military's clone supply facilities, launched an attack on the Rishi outpost using commando battle droids, forcing Hevy and his squad into a defensive position. With the assistance of Clone Commander Cody and Clone Captain Rex, they fought to reclaim Rishi Station, but found themselves facing overwhelming odds. Wielding a Z-6 rotary blaster cannon, Hevy bravely confronted the Separatists alone, eliminating numerous battle droids before being struck down by enemy blaster fire. Though injured, Hevy managed to detonate explosives, destroying the station and sacrificing his life to alert the Galactic Republic to the Separatist presence on the moon. This act ultimately hindered the Confederacy's invasion of Kamino.

Biography

Training on Kamino

A facial tattoo distinguished "Hevy" from the other clones of Jango Fett.

Hevy, given the designation CT-782, was a clone trooper whose name reflected his expertise in, and training with, heavy weaponry, such as the Z-6 rotary blaster cannon. Along with all other clone troopers created for the Galactic Republic, Hevy's origins were on the planet Kamino. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic's Domino Squad, a clone cadet unit during the initial stages of the Clone Wars. His comrades in the squad were Cutup, Echo, Fives, and Droidbait.

Within Tipoca City, the capital of Kamino, the members of Domino Squad received their training. Master Chief Bric, the Arcona bounty hunter El-Les, and Jedi Master Shaak Ti oversaw the cadets' preparation for the Citadel Challenge, their final examination. In this test, the squad faced off against training battle droids. Although the blasters of both the droids and the clones were non-lethal, injuries could still occur. Passing the test required teamwork from all clone cadet squads. However, Hevy and Domino Squad struggled with cohesion.

During their last practice run, Hevy separated himself from Domino Squad while they were engaging droids. Bric, El-Les, and Shaak Ti, observing the squad, became concerned by their lack of discipline. Bric voiced his concerns about their inability to function as a team, suggesting they be reassigned to Tipoca City's maintenance crew, a destination for clones deemed unfit for service. As the simulation continued, Hevy persistently disregarded orders and took control of the squad. Ultimately, the droids overwhelmed the clones, leading to their failure. Defeated, Domino Squad returned to their [barracks](/article/barracks], where Hevy removed his helmet and threw it to the ground in frustration. He then declared to his squadmates that his success stemmed from "thinking like an ARC trooper."

Hevy experienced difficulty integrating into Domino Squad during his time as a clone cadet.

When Echo, known for repeating orders, reminded him that ARC troopers follow orders, Hevy mocked him by asking him to repeat himself. A brief physical altercation ensued until Bric intervened. Bric reprimanded the cadets, stating that they might have a chance in combat if they fought droids as much as they fought each other. Echo immediately apologized to his Master Chief. However, Hevy remained defiant. He expressed his disapproval of having a Jedi oversee his training instead of a paid mercenary bounty hunter. Bric sharply reminded him that Jedi were too busy to train cadets like him. He then informed the entire squad that their inability to work together made them a waste of his time.

The final test

Domino Squad failed in their first attempt to pass the final test in their training.

The following day, Bric and El-Les assembled Domino Squad and other clone cadet squads on a hangar platform for a meeting. ARC troopers, led by Clone Commander Colt, along with Havoc and Blitz, were present to observe the cadet's final simulation. Successfully completing the Citadel Challenge would transform the squad into battle-ready clone soldiers. Colt showed interest in Bravo Squad, a unit that completed their tests in "ARC trooper time." Hevy, unimpressed, claimed that Domino Squad was superior. When Domino Squad began their simulation, they progressed faster than usual. While the other clones took cover, Hevy used his Z-6 rotary blaster cannon to clear a path by destroying droids. When Droidbait broke away from the squad, a droid shot him in the back. Cutup alerted Hevy, but Hevy wanted to abandon his injured teammate and proceed to the citadel. Colt and El-Les noticed the squad leaving Droidbait, forcing them to stop the simulation and automatically failing Hevy and Domino Squad.

Rise of the Domino Squad

After gaining a second chance, Hevy's squad passed the final test by working together as a team.

That night, Hevy attempted to desert the clone army after his team's failure. However, he was intercepted by 99, a disabled maintenance clone who had befriended the group. 99 advised Hevy to work with his team despite their differences. He pointed out that Hevy should not waste his opportunity, as 99 never had the chance to prove himself as a clone trooper. Throughout the conversation, 99 addressed Hevy by his name instead of his designation. Confused by his brother calling him by a name, "CT-782" angrily told 99 to stop calling him "Hevy." He believed that clones were merely numbers without names. 99 disagreed, insisting that Hevy always had a name.

Shaak Ti granted Domino Squad a retake of the test, believing in their potential. The next day, Hevy was absent when the squad prepared. Fearing failure without him, they were relieved when Hevy arrived. He declared that they would succeed this time and that his name was now Hevy.

Bric joined Shaak Ti and El-Les to observe the newly named Hevy and Domino Squad's final simulation. This time, Domino Squad progressed further. Reaching the base of the citadel, they discovered that their ascension cables were missing from their belts. Bric had removed the cables to challenge them. However, the clones improvised, climbing the blasters that ascended towards the citadel's roof. Hevy successfully climbed the turrets and raised the pole atop the citadel, completing the test. Bric was surprised by their improvement. Due to their teamwork and completion of the final test, Hevy and Domino Squad were permitted to become clone troopers.

They each received medals as a symbol of their graduation. Hevy thanked 99 for his guidance, which united Domino Squad. 99 complimented Hevy's leadership, but Hevy reminded 99 that they were a team and expressed his gratitude for having him as a brother. As they parted ways, Hevy assured 99 that they would meet again, giving 99 his medal.

Attack on the moon of Rishi

Hevy was assigned to Rishi Station, a post he found tedious, during the Clone Wars.

Following his training on Kamino, Hevy received his first off-world assignment. He was stationed at the listening post Rishi Station on a moon orbiting the planet Rishi, along with Echo, Cutup, Droidbait, and Fives, under the command of Clone Sergeant O'Niner. Clone trooper Nub was also stationed there. Their task was to maintain the listening post and warn the Galactic Republic of any impending Separatist attacks on Kamino. Hevy was disappointed that his first assignment was not on an actual battlefield. He typically spent his time arm wrestling with Cutup or Fives. While Hevy and the rookie troopers were on duty in the control room, Sergeant O'Niner informed them of an upcoming inspection. Unbeknownst to the 'Shinies' and their sergeant, Confederate General Grievous had dispatched BX-series droid commandos in Droch-class boarding ships to attack the listening post.

Rishi Station was attacked by Separatist battle droids, forcing Hevy and his comrades to retreat.

Grievous, with the assistance of the assassin Asajj Ventress, planned to invade Kamino and halt the production of clone troopers. The Republic listening post on Rishi Moon had an "all clear signal" which, if disabled, would alert a nearby Republic fleet. Grievous ordered his droids to leave the signal untouched. Meanwhile, the clones were alerted to an approaching meteor shower. To protect the base, they raised the listening post's shield. The meteor shower was, in reality, Separatist boarding ships carrying commando droids. The droids disembarked and launched their attack. In the command center, the clones attempted to contact the deck officer, clone trooper CT-327, but were unable to reach him, as he had already been killed by the commando droids. O'Niner ordered Droidbait and Nub to investigate. However, they encountered the droids at the base's entrance and were fired upon. Alerted to the droid's presence, O'Niner ordered Hevy to sound the alarm, but he discovered that the droids had deactivated the beacon.

After the commando droids killed O'Niner, the remaining clone troopers – Hevy, Echo, Fives, and Cutup – evacuated the command center through the ventilation shaft, which led outside. Exiting the shaft, the four troops, already demoralized by the loss of their sergeant, were further disheartened when a Rishi eel attacked and devoured Cutup, leaving Hevy, Echo, and Fives to defend themselves.

Taking back the base

Led by Commander Cody and Captain Rex, Hevy and his troops attempted to retake the station.

The remaining rookie clone troopers eventually spotted a Nu-class attack/transport shuttle piloted by Clone Commander Cody and Clone Captain Rex. The clone officers had arrived to inspect the listening post but were unaware of the droid attack. Hevy managed to warn them by launching a droid attack flare. The clones met Cody and Rex after narrowly escaping a droid ambush. Upon meeting the clones, Rex demanded they remove their helmets to verify their identity. After they complied, a Rishi Moon eel appeared and attacked them.

Rex killed the eel with a single blaster shot to the eye, impressing the rookies. Rex referred to them as "shinies," a derogatory term for troopers with spotless armor that had not yet seen battle. Rex found the group unique and was impressed by Hevy's confidence, stating that "there was hope for them yet." Rex and Cody gave the troopers blasters before Rex proposed a plan to retake the listening post.

The clone troopers hid near the base's entrance while Rex impersonated commando droid unit 26 using the droid's head. He successfully tricked the droids into opening the main door, allowing the clones to ambush the remaining droids inside. Upon entering the command center, the clones defeated the droid units, including their vibroblade-wielding leader.

Destroying the base

The clones ultimately sought to destroy the station in order to alert Republic forces.

Their victory was short-lived, as they noticed General Grievous' fleet arriving above the moon. Due to the lack of communication from the commando droids, Grievous sent more battle droids to the listening post. The clones, inside the command center, were unable to disable the "all clear" signal because the droids had hot-wired it. A droid landing craft descended through the atmosphere and landed near the listening post. With the battle droid reinforcements outnumbering the clones, Rex ordered the destruction of the base, surprising the rookies. They realized that destroying the base would stop the "all clear" signal, alerting the Republic to the Separatist attack. Echo suggested using explosive liquid tibanna stored in plunk droids. While Rex and Echo retrieved the droids, Cody, Hevy, and Fives gathered weaponry from the supply room.

When the battle droids reached the entrance, they ordered the doors to open, only to find Hevy pointing a Z-6 rotary blaster cannon at them. Hevy, Cody, and Fives opened fire, buying time for Rex to wire three plunk droids together. However, the remote activator to detonate the tibanna malfunctioned. Hevy volunteered to stay behind and fix the problem, allowing the others to escape through the ventilation shaft.

Sacrifice

Hevy completed the mission alone and died as a loyal soldier of the Galactic Republic.

Hevy continued to try to link the remote activator to the bombs as the droids approached. Realizing he was running out of time, he hid from the droids. Assuming the clones had fled, the Separatist droids reclaimed the listening post. Outside, Cody, Rex, Echo, and Fives noticed Hevy was still inside. Rex tried to contact him, but Hevy said he had to detonate the explosives manually. He then opened fire on the B1-series battle droids after a group spotted him. Unwilling to accept his decision, Rex and the others ran back to rescue him.

Inside the station, more battle droids approached the command center. Hevy was shot in the shoulder by one of the droids. Outnumbered and wounded, he continued to fight to the command center, ignoring the pleas of the others. Hevy's Z-6 rotary blaster eventually ran out of ammunition. He tossed the weapon at the droids before being shot twice in the back. As Hevy regained consciousness, a battle droid questioned whether to take him prisoner. Declaring that he did not take prisoners, Hevy activated the tibanna explosives, sacrificing himself and destroying the listening post along with the droids inside.

Legacy

Hevy gave his graduation medal to 99, a deformed clone who hoped to return it to him one day.

Hevy's sacrifice was not in vain. With the listening post destroyed, the "all clear" signal was disabled, alerting the Galactic Republic to the presence of General Grievous' Separatist starships. When the Republic arrived, Grievous was forced to retreat due to being outgunned. The remaining clone troopers witnessed the destruction of the listening post, with Echo commenting that Hevy always hated the base. They were then picked up by a LAAT/i gunship. Onboard the Republic attack cruiser Resolute, Jedi Generals Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker awarded Echo and Fives medals for their service and honored Hevy's bravery and sacrifice. Echo and Fives were then inducted into Rex's clone unit, the 501st Legion.

Later in the war, the Separatists launched another attack on Kamino. After intercepting a transmission between Grievous and Asajj Ventress, the Republic traveled to Kamino to defend it. Echo and Fives were among the members of the 501st Legion sent to defend their home. Both had adopted images of a Z-6 rotary canon with the words "For Hevy" written in Aurebesh on their armor to honor him. As they walked down a hallway in Tipoca City, they encountered 99. He welcomed them back but was saddened to learn of Hevy's death on the Rishi moon outpost. He revealed that Hevy had given him his graduation medal before departing Kamino, surprising the other clones.

Grievous and Ventress launched their attack on Kamino, starting with Tipoca City. Echo and Fives destroyed aqua droids from a sniping position, where they were joined by 99, who brought them ammunition. They were then joined by young clone cadets who had been separated from their group. They retreated to the barracks and were joined by Rex and Cody. A group of battle droids attacked the barracks. By having the cadets strike from above, the troopers destroyed their attackers. However, 99 was killed while retrieving more ammunition. After the battle, Echo and Fives were promoted to ARC troopers by Captain Rex and Commander Cody for their bravery.

Rex remembered many of his fallen brothers, including Hevy.

In the closing year of the conflict, Captain Rex sat within the confines of the barracks, his gaze fixed upon a photograph depicting him alongside several of his clone brethren. He and Commander Cody reminisced about their deceased comrades, specifically mentioning Hevy and recalling the sacrifice he made.

Personality and traits

Hevy, a human male, was created as a clone of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, and consequently possessed a height of 1.83 meters, equivalent to 6 [feet](/article/foot]. Mirroring his genetic source, he had [black](/article/color] [hair](/article/hair], brown [eyes](/article/eye], and skin with a tan complexion. His hair was closely cropped in a crew cut style, and his eyebrows were a dark red hue. The nickname "Hevy" was bestowed upon him by 99, due to his training in the use of heavy weaponry, most notably the Z-6 rotary blaster cannon.

Like all clone troopers, Hevy's allegiance was primarily to the Grand Army of the Republic. However, this dedication did not prevent him from nearly becoming a rogue when faced with the prospect of being assigned to maintenance duty. Hevy also demonstrated a desire to forge his own path, which initially caused difficulties for his squad. Following an unsuccessful practice test, Hevy expressed his frustration by throwing his helmet down in the barracks, which led to an altercation with Echo. Ultimately, 99 convinced Hevy to appreciate the opportunity to serve, and he embraced his role by becoming a leader within his squad. As a result, he was instrumental in encouraging the other Dominos to collaborate as a team and successfully complete their cadet training on Kamino.

Skills and abilities

Hevy possessed proficiency as a combatant in both armed and unarmed engagements, with a particular reputation as an expert in heavy weapons. Furthermore, he demonstrated skill in military strategy and reconnaissance.

Equipment

During his time training on Kamino, Hevy was equipped with a set of training armor specifically designed for training exercises, featuring an open visor to allow visibility of the cadet's face. Upon the completion of his training, Hevy donned a standard set of Phase I clone trooper armor while stationed at the Rishi Moon outpost, which included a comlink and utility belt. He also carried a droid attack flare, which he deployed to inform Rex and Cody of the droid invasion at the Rishi Outpost. Hevy's preferred weapon was the Z-6 rotary blaster cannon.
