Mission to Nakadia

Prior to the events that unfolded during the Battle of Jakku in the year 5 ABY, Chancellor Mon Mothma tasked Han Solo, Sinjir Rath Velus, Temmin Wexley, Jom Barell, and Conder Kyl with a mission: observing five senators who had cast their votes against her proposition to dispatch New Republic Defense Force units to Jakku. These senators were identified as Ashmin Ek, Rethalow, Dor Wieedo, Grelka Sorka, and Nim Tar. It was discovered that three of them had accepted bribes from the Black Sun and the Red Key Raiders, while the remaining two had been forced into opposing the resolution. Furthermore, Sorka's beloved jerba and Nim Tar's child had been abducted.

During their surveillance of the senators, Conder was taken captive by Red Key gangsters. Simultaneously, Han was attacked and found himself deposited in a refuse container outside Rethalow's starship. Utilizing a transceiver tooth, Conder managed to transmit his location to his would-be rescuers. Solo piloted the Millennium Falcon crashing through the roof of a storage facility. Following a confrontation, the team successfully subdued the Red Key gangsters, liberating Nim Tar's child and Conder. Although they were unable to recover Sorka's pet jerba, Sinjir, aided by Conder, skillfully persuaded the five senators to reverse their votes in support of Mothma's resolution. This action thwarted a scheme by the Black Sun and Red Key syndicates to prolong the conflict, as well as Senator Tolwar Wartol's attempt to undermine Mothma's leadership. Consequently, the New Republic was able to deploy military forces to Jakku, ultimately defeating the Galactic Empire.

Prelude

In the aftermath of the Liberation Day attack on Chandrila in 5 ABY, Counselor Gallius Rax strategically relocated the Galactic Empire to the Inner Rim world of Jakku. Some months later, Norra Wexley and her team detected the Imperial fleet positioned above Jakku. While Norra, along with the Zabrak bounty hunter Jas Emari, and the B1-series battle droid Mister Bones infiltrated Jakku, her son Temmin Wexley and the former Imperial loyalty officer Sinjir Rath Velus made their way back to Chandrila to share the intelligence regarding the Imperial presence on Jakku.

Temmin and Sinjir conveyed the information about the Imperial presence to Princess Leia Organa and Chancellor Mon Mothma at Leia's residence. Despite Chancellor Mothma's efforts to maintain secrecy until she could devise a formal response, her political adversary Senator Tolwar Wartol had secretly installed an eavesdropping device within Leia's nanny droid T-2LC. In an attempt to gain political capital, Wartol disseminated this information to the press, accusing Mothma of displaying weakness. Wartol also sought to create division among Mothma's allies by dispatching Senate Guards to prevent Temmin and Sinjir from departing for Jakku aboard the Millennium Falcon.

Subsequently, Sinjir's former slicer lover Conder Kyl discovered Senator Wartol's listening device. Mothma convened an emergency session of the Galactic Senate, but she failed to garner sufficient support for a resolution authorizing intervention, falling short by five votes. With the Senate scheduled to reconvene on Nakadia, Mothma managed to persuade Wartol to allow her to travel with him on his Ganoidian tri-deck cruiser. During the voyage, Mothma confronted Wartol about the listening device concealed in Leia's droid and his involvement in sabotaging her resolution to deploy New Republic Defense Force forces to Jakku. Wartol refuted these accusations and pledged to challenge Mothma in the upcoming election.

Political intrigue

However, Mothma revealed a final strategic maneuver: a pta fruit. Given Nakadia's stringent biosecurity regulations, Mothma decided to leverage the customs inspection process to delay the re-vote concerning the Jakku intervention. Her strategy involved tasking a team comprising Sinjir, Leia's husband Han Solo, Temmin, Conder, and the former SpecForces commando Jom Barell with sufficient time to spy on the five senators who had opposed her resolution and persuade them to alter their votes. These senators included Ashmin Ek from Anthan Prime, Dor Wieedo from Rodia, the Frong Rethalow, Grelka Sorka from Askaji, and the Quermian Nim Tar. All five had previously aligned with Wartol in the past and served on the same committees.

Sinjir and the other agents trailed the senators into a well-known restaurant near the Quarrow Senate house called Izzik's. Sinjir and Solo adopted the personas of celebrities, Jom acted as a security guard, Temmin portrayed a military veteran, and Conder presented himself as someone seeking favor with the senators. Sinjir was assigned to monitor Ek, Solo to observe Wieedo, Temmin to keep an eye on Sorka, Conder to watch Tar, and Jom to follow Rethalow. Solo eventually tracked Wieedo to his starship situated in the northernmost spaceport outside Quarrow. For several hours, they maintained surveillance over the senators, looking for anything out of the ordinary.

That night, Solo contacted Sinjir to inform him that a pair of Nikto and a Klatooinian were approaching Wieedo's ship. These aliens were revealed to be members of the Red Key crime syndicate, which was conspiring with Black Sun to prolong the Galactic Civil War. While Sinjir was attempting to tail Conder and Tar, he was distracted by Dann and Merra, the son and daughter of the Akivan senator Pima Drolley. Sinjir managed to break away and discovered Ek threatening Tar in a narrow alleyway. Sinjir moved to confront them but was knocked unconscious by a stranger who had been following him. Meanwhile, Solo was thrown into a trash receptacle by the Red Key gangsters.

Unmasking a criminal conspiracy

The next morning, Temmin discovered an unconscious Sinjir on the streets. After rescuing Solo from the trash container, Sinjir realized that Conder had been abducted. The three remaining team members were contacted by Jom, who had kidnapped Rethalow and was holding him captive aboard the Millennium Falcon. Sinjir managed to convince Rethalow to cooperate by posing as an adviser to Mothma and promising to assist him if he revealed everything he knew. Rethalow confessed that he, Ek, and Wieedo had been bribed by Red Key and Black Sun into opposing Mothma's resolution in exchange for a trade agreement. Rethalow also disclosed that Tar and Sorka had been threatened by the gangsters. Nim Tar's child and Sorka's pet jerba had been kidnapped.

Solo took the Millennium Falcon on a flight to search for Conder, Tar's child, and Sorka's jerba. Their search coincided with Wartol's cruiser clearing customs and receiving permission to land. Meanwhile, Conder was being held captive in a warehouse with a red roof by members of the Red Key and Black Sun syndicates. He managed to use his transceiver tooth to transmit his coordinates to the Falcon. With the team running out of time to persuade the four other senators to change their votes, Solo decided to locate the warehouse, attack the gangsters, and rescue their captives.

Solo employed the Falcon's belly turret to blast a hole in the warehouse roof. While Temmin guarded Rethalow, Sinjir, Solo, and Jom disembarked to confront the gangsters. A Nikto gangster attempted to swing an ax at Sinjir, but the former Imperial officer evaded the blow and broke his arm. The gangster was then shot by Jom, who was charging into the fray. Han and Jom proceeded to shoot two more Nikto gangsters. Sinjir then shot a charging Ithorian gangster in the head. Jom then tackled an Iotran gangster to the ground while Solo opened fire with his blaster.

Sinjir shot another gangster after breaking his neck. Sinjir located Conder and Nim Tar's child at the far end of the warehouse. Conder was bound and kneeling on the floor, while Nim Tar's child was confined to a cage. A Herglic gangster took Conder hostage and threatened to break his neck. However, Sinjir shot him through the mouth, killing him.

Aftermath

After attending to Conder and embracing him, Sinjir requested his friend's assistance in hacking into the five senator's datapads. Posing as an adviser to Mothma, Sinjir sent the five senators a message offering to pardon them and grant them political favors in exchange for voting in favor of Mothma's resolution. Sinjir also reassured Tar and Sorka that his child and her prize jerba had been rescued. In reality, Sorka's jerba had already been sold by the syndicates on the butchers' black market. Sinjir's plan succeeded, and the Galactic Senate voted to send military forces to Jakku, setting the stage for the Battle of Jakku.

Following the events on Nakadia, a grateful Mothma hired Sinjir as her new adviser. He and Conder subsequently thwarted a plot by a vengeful Wartol to assassinate Mothma. Sinjir later participated in the peace negotiations with Grand Vizier Mas Amedda, which resulted in the Galactic Concordance that formally ended the Galactic Civil War and facilitated the Empire's surrender. Temmin would fly with Phantom Squadron during the Battle of Jakku, while Jom tragically died in combat there, saving his fellow commandos from a concussive missile. Lastly, Han and Leia birth to a son named Ben Solo.

Behind the scenes

The mission to Nakadia serves as one of the subplots of Chuck Wendig's 2017 novel Aftermath: Empire's End. It is told from the point of view of Sinjir Rath Velus, one of the novel's protagonists.
