The Imperial Inspectorate HQ, alternatively referred to as the Imperial Inspectorate Command Center, functioned as the central base of operations for the Inspectorate. Situated on Coruscant, a prominent Core World, it began its life as a Republic Military installation. During the concluding years of the Galactic Republic, it was known as the Republic Center for Military Operations or simply the Republic military base. Lieutenant Commander Orson Callan Krennic was the architect responsible for its design. In later times, it was repurposed as the Naval Intelligence Headquarters, serving as the central hub for the Imperial Military's Naval Intelligence Agency.
During the Clone Wars conflict, Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi Commander, underwent training with clone troopers and faced a trial for alleged treason within the Republic Center for Military Operations. The accusations against Tano were ultimately dismissed when Commander Barriss Offee, another Jedi, was exposed as the individual truly responsible for the terrorist bombing that targeted the Jedi Temple's hangar.
As the Galactic Empire rose to power, the Republic Center for Military Operations was rebranded as the Imperial Inspectorate HQ. It became a key component of the "supreme triangle" within Imperial City's Federal District, alongside the Imperial Palace and the COMPNOR arcology.

The Imperial Inspectorate HQ was a fortified complex with limited windows, protected by shields, and located in the Federal District of the [capital](/article/capital] planet Coruscant. It stood in proximity to the COMPNOR arcology and the Imperial Palace. The complex was situated near the Coruscant shipyards, where Venator-class Star Destroyers docked.

During the Imperial Era, the Inspectorate's roof was equipped with scanner, sensor, and communications arrays. Two turbolaser batteries provided defense. The complex was fitted with micro-holocams and recorders in every corner, enabling constant monitoring of all workers' actions and conversations. Enclosed hangars and landing bays were scattered around the facility, accommodating various transports and starfighters. The base also housed a military prison for high-profile Separatists too important to be held in a regular criminal facility, including Emir Wat Tambor, Archduke Poggle the Lesser, and General Whorm Loathsom. Barriss Offee, a former Jedi convicted of treason for the bombing of the Jedi Temple Hangar, was also imprisoned there.
The Strategic Planning Amphitheater was located at the highest point of the facility. In the center of the base's plaza stood the First Battle Memorial, a monument honoring the clone troopers who died in the First Battle of Geonosis. This memorial was built on a large slab of reddish-brown rock from the planet Geonosis, fashioned into a wall engraved with the designations of the fallen clones.

During the final years of the Galactic Republic, the Republic Center for Military Operations served as the primary operational and strategic hub for the Republic Military. Designed by architect Lieutenant Commander Orson Callan Krennic, it was constructed in the Federal District of Galactic City on the Core World Coruscant—the Republic's galactic [capital](/article/capital]—during the Clone Wars. As the Republic fought the Confederacy of Independent Systems across the galaxy, the facility acted as the central operations center for the Grand Army of the Republic.
A committee of Republic officials, known as the Strategic Advisory Cell, gathered in the Republic Center's Strategic Planning Amphitheater to discuss plans for developing a Republic superweapon in the Clone Wars' first year. At one point, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker enlisted Clone Captain Rex and his troops to assist his [Padawan](/article/padawan], Ahsoka Tano, in practicing her lightsaber skills at the base's hangar. The clones formed a circle around Tano and fired stun blasts at her as she practiced deflecting them. Skywalker encouraged his apprentice to persevere, even as she was repeatedly knocked unconscious. As the conflict continued, terrorists bombed one of the Jedi Temple's starship hangars, resulting in the deaths of several Jedi, clone [troopers](/article/trooper], and maintenance workers. Letta Turmond, a local, was arrested by Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and imprisoned at the Republic military base because of her involvement in the attack against the Jedi Order.

Turmond was subsequently killed by way of the Force while being interrogated by Skywalker's [apprentice](/article/padawan], Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano. Accused of murder, Tano escaped from the base and sought refuge in the lower levels of Coruscant. Pursued by the clone shock troopers of the Coruscant Guard, Tano was eventually captured and returned to the Republic Center for Military Operations, where she faced a military tribunal led by Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine. However, before sentencing, Skywalker arrested Jedi Commander Barriss Offee after discovering her responsibility for the bombing at the Temple and the framing of Tano. He brought the fallen Jedi to the base's courtroom, where Offee confessed to her crimes against the Republic and the Order. Consequently, the tribunal acquitted Tano of all charges, though she chose not to rejoin either the Jedi or the Grand Army.

When the war concluded in 19 BBY, the Republic was replaced by the Galactic Empire. Subsequently, the Imperial Inspectorate headquarters, along with the Naval Intelligence Agency, was built upon the foundations of the former Republic military base. The Imperial Inspectorate HQ, the Imperial Palace, and the COMPNOR arcology together formed the "supreme triangle" in the Federal District.
Shortly after the Empire's establishment, clone Crosshair was assigned by Admiral Edmon Rampart to a team of troopers for an infiltration mission to the planet Desix. After meeting the admiral in his office within Inspectorate HQ, Crosshair was instructed to meet with the unit's commander, Cody, outside the building, near the First Battle Memorial.
As clone troopers were gradually removed from the Imperial Army and replaced by human recruits from Project War-Mantle, the clones underwent processing at the Inspectorate HQ before being discharged into retirement.
In 14 BBY, the headquarters served as the meeting location for Emperor Palpatine, his Joint Chiefs of the Imperial Military, and leaders from the Commission for the Preservation of the New Order, following the hijacking of Moff Wilhuff Tarkin's personal corvette by a group of rebels, who then used it to wreak havoc across the Empire. During the Galactic Civil War, agents of the Alliance to Restore the Republic infiltrated the complex.
Around 1 ABY, Lieutenant-Inspector Magna Tolvan visited the facility after her promotion, where she used an RA-7 protocol droid to research her deceased mentor, Thanoth. Around 3 ABY, during the Alliance's attack run on Coruscant, an Imperial lieutenant informed the commander of the Inspectorate headquarters about the impending assault. The commander ordered the activation of orbital platforms and the scrambling of half of the planetary-defense fighter wings. After the rebels' successful attack, the commander and the lieutenant left Inspectorate HQ to assess the damage to a statue of the Emperor.
