Fox

Fox, identified as CC-1010, was a clone trooper officer who held the position of Clone Commander within the Coruscant Guard throughout the Clone Wars. While Jedi Generals led the Grand Army of the Republic in battles across the galaxy, Commander Fox, together with his clone shock troopers, remained stationed on Coruscant, the capital planet of the Galactic Republic. Like every clone trooper under his command, Fox's sense of duty and honor compelled him to protect both Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine and the members of the Galactic Senate. As the conflict progressed, Fox distinguished himself as one of the most decorated soldiers within the Republic Military.

Cloned from the genetic template provided by the human bounty hunter Jango Fett, Fox underwent training on the extragalactic world of Kamino as part of a vast army of identical warriors during the final years of the Republic Era. Following the First Battle of Geonosis, he was reassigned to the Republic capital, where he assumed leadership of the Coruscant Guard. As the war intensified, Fox's clone guards augmented the Senate Guard as a peace-keeping force on Coruscant. Moreover, his troops embarked on missions beyond the planet, providing security for Jedi ambassadors and prominent senators.

After Order 66 and the rise of the Galactic Empire, Fox continued to command the Coruscant Guard and remained in military service as an Imperial shock trooper. During the initial days of Emperor Palpatine's reign, Fox established a security perimeter around the fallen Temple of the Jedi Order while the Sith Lord Darth Vader attempted to apprehend Jedi Master Jocasta Nu. Ultimately, Fox met his end when Vader executed him after the shock troopers mistakenly targeted the Sith, believing him to be a Jedi, and tried to kill him.

Biography

Clone Wars

Born CC-1010, the clone known as Fox was developed using the genetic material of Jango Fett as part of a program designed to cultivate a massive army on the planet Kamino. In 22 BBY, roughly one decade following the initial creation of the clone army, Fox and his fellow clones were summoned to serve the Galactic Republic. This event led to the formation of the Grand Army of the Republic and the start of the Clone Wars. While countless clone troopers fought on the battlefronts under the direction of the Jedi Order, Fox was stationed on Coruscant, where he held the position of commander of the Coruscant Guard. Under Fox's leadership, the Guard acted as peacekeepers within the Republic's capital and also bore the responsibility of ensuring the safety of both the Galactic Senate and Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine.

Protecting Coruscant

Commander Fox and the Coruscant Guard raided Ziro's palace to rescue Senator Padmé Amidala.

During the mission to save Rotta, the son of Jabba Desilijic Tiure, Hutt crime lord Ziro took Senator Padmé Amidala as his prisoner in an attempt to prevent her from uncovering his involvement in Rotta's kidnapping. She was eventually freed through the efforts of Commander Fox and a group of clone shock troopers who raided Ziro's establishment in Galactic City, after Amidala's protocol droid C-3PO alerted them to the Hutt's unlawful actions. After neutralizing the security droids, Fox apprehended Ziro, who confessed to betraying Jabba before being sent to prison at the Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center.

The capture of Ziro subsequently triggered a crisis on Coruscant when a number of senators were held hostage by several mercenaries, including the bounty hunter Cad Bane. In response, a squad of shock troopers secured the Chancellor's office within the Senate headquarters, while Fox and his troops surrounded the detention center to stop Ziro from escaping. Despite his best efforts, Fox was compelled to permit the bounty hunters to depart with Ziro in order to ensure the safety of Bane's hostages.

Fox was fooled by a group of Separatist droids that he referred to as "stupid droids."

In 21 BBY, a team of modified demolition droids was dispatched to disrupt the Confederate–Republic peace initiative on Coruscant. At that time, Fox was assigned to safeguard the central power distribution grid on Level 5000. The droids deceived him with a security clearance code that Fox believed to be legitimate. Consequently, the droids succeeded in destroying the power grid, resulting in a city-wide blackout across Coruscant. Enraged by the Confederacy's terrorist attack on the galactic capital, the Senate rejected the peace initiative.

Hunting fugitives

Fox and Captain Rex disagreed about Ahsoka Tano as the rogue Padawan fled from the military.

Following the terrorist attack on the Jedi Temple of Coruscant in 19 BBY, Letta Turmond was incarcerated at the Republic Center for Military Operations due to her involvement in the attack. Ahsoka Tano, the Jedi Padawan who had apprehended the terrorist, visited the facility at Turmond's request, but was required to hand over her lightsabers to Commander Fox as a security measure. Although the clone initially commended Tano for bringing Turmond to justice, he was forced to arrest her after Turmond was strangled to death by way of the Force. Unbeknownst to Fox, Turmond was murdered by the fallen Jedi Barriss Offee, whose twisted beliefs led her to perpetrate acts of betrayal and terrorism. Offee further damaged her incarcerated comrade's reputation by killing three clone officers with her lightsaber, leading Fox to believe that Tano was the culprit. In response to Tano's escape attempt, Fox deployed the Coruscant Guard alongside Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and Clone Captain CT-7567 "Rex" as they pursued the escaped Jedi.

Following the incident involving Tano, whose innocence was proven after Skywalker interrupted her trial to expose Offee as the true traitor, Fox received orders to hunt down another fugitive—the ARC trooper Fives of the 501st Legion. Fives had fled from the Grand Republic Medical Facility, where he had attempted to assassinate Chancellor Palpatine after discovering his involvement in a conspiracy to destroy the Jedi Order. Tracking the rogue clone to Level 1325, Fox and a contingent of clone shock troopers confronted Fives, demanding that he surrender. In his state of panic and desperation, the ARC trooper raised a blaster pistol at the approaching guards, but Fox opened fire, fatally wounding Fives with a shot to the chest.

Order 66

During the initial phase of the Great Jedi Purge, Fox and his fellow clones participated in the execution of Order 66 on Coruscant. The Jedi Order had been accused of treason by Chancellor Palpatine; consequently, they were targeted for elimination by the clone troopers who had once served them. Ultimately, Fox and his troops successfully carried out their orders to eliminate the Jedi population from the capital, with a number of Coruscant Guard shock troopers engaging Jedi Master Kelleran Beq and Royal Naboo Security Forces on a landing platform.

Imperial service and death

Fox had the Jedi Temple surrounded by the Coruscant Guard, in accordance with Darth Vader's instructions.

The Coruscant Guard remained under Commander Fox's command after Palpatine declared himself Emperor, transforming the Republic into the Galactic Empire. In the early stages of the New Order, Fox and his troops encountered Jedi Master Jocasta Nu, the Chief Librarian of the Jedi [Temple](/article/jedi_temple], who employed the Force to influence the clones, allowing her to pass safely. After Nu infiltrated the Temple, Fox surrounded the Jedi Order's former headquarters with two full companies of Imperial clone shock troopers, with the Coruscant Security Force providing additional support. He assured the Emperor's apprentice, the Sith Lord Darth Vader, that the perimeter around the Temple was secure.

Due to his lightsaber, Fox's soldiers mistook the Sith for a Jedi and began firing on him during Nu's attempted escape. Fox immediately ordered them to stop their attack upon realizing their mistake. Despite his attempts to explain his actions, Fox was summarily executed for failing to provide the clones with Vader's description. The Dark Lord of the Sith used telekinesis to break the clone's neck, ending the life of Commander Fox.

Personality and traits

Bound by his sense of duty to the Republic, Fox arrested Ahsoka Tano as a suspect in the murder of Letta Turmond.

Commander Fox was a male human clone who stood at 1.83 meters tall, a physical characteristic he inherited from his [template](/article/clone_template], Jango Fett. He was also a fearless soldier who commanded the elite Coruscant Guard shock troopers in combat, consistently leading the charge into battle. Like the rest of the Guard, Fox possessed a strong sense of duty and honor, which drove him to loyally serve and protect the Republic's highest governing body—the Galactic Senate and the Supreme Chancellor. His service was exceptional, earning him the distinction of being one of the most decorated soldiers in the Grand Army of the Republic.

Like his clone brethren, Fox was fiercely devoted to the Galactic Republic and displayed little tolerance for criminals such as the terrorist Letta Turmond. When Turmond died in her cell, Fox stated that he did not personally blame Ahsoka Tano, but nonetheless arrested her as a suspect in Turmond's murder. Later, he unhesitatingly ordered his guards to kill Tano, whom he believed was responsible for the deaths of several clones during her escape, but reluctantly complied with Anakin Skywalker's orders to capture the Padawan alive. When Fox and his troops confronted Fives, he demanded that the ARC trooper surrender to them. Ultimately, Fox opened fire on Fives after the clone pointed a blaster at him.

Fox remained loyal to the Republic's successor, the Galactic Empire, and continued to lead the Coruscant Guard in the name of the self-proclaimed Emperor Palpatine. Like the other clones, he participated in the execution of Order 66, viewing it as his duty to fulfill. Believing the Jedi Order was responsible for instigating a rebellion on the capital, Fox considered the Jedi to be "agitators" and enemies of the state. Though he did not intend to harm Darth Vader, he failed to warn his guards against mistaking the Sith Lord for a Jedi. This oversight on Fox's part ultimately cost the commander his life.

Equipment

Fox wore a customized version of the Phase II clone trooper armor.

As a clone soldier who served during the early part of the Clone Wars, Commander Fox wore the standard Phase I clone trooper armor, albeit with the crimson markings and original pattern design specific to the Coruscant Guard. In addition to his armor, Fox wore a kama and a customized helmet similar to the one worn by Cody of the 212th Attack Battalion.

With the introduction of Phase II clone trooper armor, Fox and his unit transitioned to the upgraded version. His new armor was primarily red, which is actually the inverse color scheme of the standard kit used by the clone shock troopers. His weapons included the standard DC-15A blaster rifle and a pair of DC-17 hand blasters.

Fox maintained his distinctive armor as the Republic transformed into the Galactic Empire, although he noticeably removed the insignia of the Coruscant Guard from his shoulder pauldrons.

Behind the scenes

CC-1010 made his first appearance in the 2008 Star Wars: The Clone Wars film, with Dee Bradley Baker providing his voice. In the 2021 non-canon video game LEGO Star Wars Battles, the lower portion of his chest armor and his kneepads are incorrectly depicted as white, despite both canonically being red. The 2023 LEGO Star Wars: The Clone Wars set 75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship also features this same erroneous design.
