Delta Squad, an exceptional clone commando unit, executed critical missions for the Grand Army of the Republic throughout the Clone Wars. This squad was composed of four clones derived from the Mandalorian bounty hunter, Jango Fett, and included Boss, RC-1140 known as "Fixer," Sev, and Scorch. As one of twenty-five squads within Arca Company of the Commando Group Zero Five Commando in the Grand Army's Special Operations Brigade, Delta Squad received directives from the Director of Special Forces, Jedi General Arligan Zey, and his former Padawan, Bardan Jusik for a large portion of the conflict, subsequently followed by Jusik's replacement, Jedi Knight Etain Tur-Mukan. The unit also operated under the supervision of clone advisor 01/425 in the field during various operations.
Delta Squad's initial deployment occurred on Geonosis at the Clone Wars' outset. They later played a pivotal role in the recapture of the RAS Prosecutor, and the rescue of their fellow commando unit, Omega Squad. Collaborating with Omega Squad and two Null-class Advanced Recon Commandos, under the guidance of former Cuy'val Dar training sergeant Kal Skirata, Delta Squad participated in shutting down a Separatist terrorist network active on Coruscant. The squad was also assigned the task of locating the Kaminoan defector Ko Sai, but their search only resulted in the discovery of the scientist's severed head. Delta Squad once again proved their worth to the Republic leading up to the Battle of Kashyyyk, where they successfully rescued the Wookiee chieftain Tarfful from his Trandoshan slaver captors, defended Wookiee settlements from Separatist battle droids, and destroyed a Recusant-class light destroyer. However, on Kashyyyk, Delta Squad was compelled to leave behind one of their own, Sev, when he was caught in enemy fire and the squad received immediate extraction orders from Jedi Grand Master Yoda. Following this, Delta Squad served the newly established Galactic Empire as part of the 501st Legion's Imperial Commando Special Unit, tasked with hunting down Jedi who had survived Order 66, along with clone deserters, Jedi sympathizers, and other dissidents of the Empire.
The four members of Delta Squad originated from the cloning facilities of Tipoca City on the planet Kamino. During their formative years, they underwent flash training, similar to the rest of the developing Grand Army of the Republic, but their primary training came from Walon Vau, one of the seventy-five Mandalorian clone commando training sergeants within the one-hundred-member group known as the Cuy'val Dar. Vau, personally selected by Jango Fett, believed that the survival of his commandos depended on the intensity of their training—anything less would jeopardize their preparation. While his methods were considered harsh by many, including fellow Cuy'val Dar sergeants, Vau's rigorous training transformed Delta Squad into an aggressive and highly effective unit, earning him their deep gratitude for making them survivors. Vau took immense pride in his squads' consistently superior performance, both in live-fire exercises on Kamino and later during their deployments in the Clone Wars. Throughout their training, the four commandos adopted names to accompany their formal numerical designations. RC-1138, the squad's sergeant, became known as "Boss", while RC-1140 adopted the name "Fixer". RC-1262 earned the nickname "Scorch" following an incident involving explosive ordnance that temporarily left both him and Sergeant Vau without eyebrows, and RC-1207 was called "Sev", a shortened version of his designation's final digit, seven.

Delta Squad's rigorous training on Kamino concluded in 22 BBY. During his search for the progenitor of Delta Squad, as well as the rest of the clone army, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi traveled to Geonosis where he was captured by Geonosian forces. His Padawan, Anakin Skywalker, and Senator Padmé Amidala attempted to rescue Kenobi, but were also captured. While Jedi Master Mace Windu led a Jedi strike team to rescue the captives, Grand Master Yoda went to Kamino to inspect the newly discovered Grand Army. The Grand Army, including Delta Squad, was swiftly deployed to Geonosis, so quickly that Delta had no opportunity to bid farewell to their training sergeant, Vau. The four commandos separated, each boarding a single LAAT/i gunship independently, with plans to rendezvous on the planet's surface.

Under the supervision of clone advisor 01/425 during the First Battle of Geonosis, Delta Squad was tasked with assassinating Archduke Poggle the Lesser's chief lieutenant, Sun Fac. Upon landing, Boss, the squad's sergeant, was instructed to destroy an armored bunker en route to meeting his squadmates, which he accomplished using a thermal detonator. Once reunited, Delta Squad attacked Sun Fac's command center, but the Geonosian leader managed to escape. Delta pursued Fac through the Geonosian catacombs, eventually cornering him in his private hangar as he attempted to flee in his starfighter. Sev, Delta Squad's sniper, prevented Fac's escape by shooting down the starfighter with his DC-17m blaster rifle, killing Fac. While in the hangar, Delta Squad also observed the departure of General Grievous' personal starfighter, Soulless One, though they did not recognize it at the time. During their pursuit of Sun Fac, Delta Squad engaged several spider droids, while Theta Squad, another Republic commando unit, breached a door in the catacombs. After the door was breached, Delta was authorized to enter and engage the Geonosians inside, while Theta moved to destroy a droid factory. With Sun Fac eliminated, Delta Squad learned that Theta Squad had failed in their mission; three of the four commandos had been killed, leaving only Darman alive. Delta infiltrated the factory, navigating through an area filled with Geonosian eggs, and successfully destroyed it by targeting specific vulnerabilities in its design.
Following the destruction of the droid factory, Delta Squad was assigned to infiltrate a Lucrehulk-class Core Ship. Deployed from a LAAT/i gunship piloted by clone pilot Delta 42 in a nearby canyon, Delta Squad was quickly ambushed by Geonosian forces. Despite being outnumbered, they discovered a downed gunship and two clone troopers; although the troopers were killed by the Geonosians, Delta Squad managed to commandeer one of the gunship's turbolaser bubble-turrets to defend themselves. As they advanced toward the Core Ship, the squad was tasked with eliminating an anti-aircraft cannon. Delta fought through waves of B1-Series battle droids and super battle droids, eventually destroying the large anti-aircraft emplacement. Upon reaching the Core Ship, they faced resistance from an advanced spider droid and a ray shield blocking the entrance. The four commandos destroyed the spider droid with considerable effort, with Boss expressing his desire to never encounter one again, and then requested air support from Delta 42's gunship to breach the ray-shielded entrance. Once inside, Delta Squad split up, each member tasked with sabotaging and destroying critical systems. Scorch and Fixer came under heavy fire from a small group of droidekas, but Boss and Sev rescued them without incident. Their primary objective was to capture vital launch codes located on the ship's bridge. On the bridge, Delta faced intense fire from numerous battle droids and stationary autoturrets, but successfully acquired the codes before retreating down a branching corridor. By this point, their sabotage efforts had caused several primary systems to overload. Unable to escape through their original entry point, Delta Squad was extracted via LAAT/i gunship through a hole blasted in the hull of the ship.
Delta Squad's retrieval of the Core Ship's launch codes allowed the Republic to halt the evacuation of several other fleeing ships. They were also the first Republic force to successfully breach a vessel belonging to the Separatist alliance, now known as the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Delta Squad was among the few Republic commando squads to survive the Battle of Geonosis intact, suffering no casualties while 4,982 other commandos perished.

The battle on Geonosis marked only the beginning of the pan-galactic Clone Wars. Three hundred and sixty-seven days into the war, in 21 BBY, Delta Squad was tasked with investigating the derelict Acclamator-class assault ship, Prosecutor. Delta Squad had spent a significant amount of time aboard the capital ship early in the war, considering it their "first home." The Prosecutor had recently reappeared in the Chaykin cluster after a two-week disappearance while defending trade routes in the Corellian sector, and was found drifting without power and unresponsive to communications. Delta Squad was selected for the mission due to the impact of their actions on Geonosis on a high-ranking Republic official. Arriving in the Corbantis system aboard a CR25 troop carrier, Delta Squad was assigned to retrieve flight records from the Prosecutor's four data cores and secure the derelict assault ship.
The four members of Delta Squad disembarked from the CR25 by jumping through the vacuum of space, each entering the Prosecutor at different locations. Boss entered through one of its torpedo launch tubes. Shortly after boarding, their communications with 01/425, again serving as their mission advisor, were mysteriously cut off. While searching the ship, Delta Squad encountered few survivors and was attacked by scavenger droids, including Scorch, who was ambushed and incapacitated. The squad soon discovered that the Prosecutor had been attacked by Trandoshan slavers and mercenaries when Sev was captured at the starboard data core, forcing Boss to flee into the ship's maintenance shafts. Boss and Fixer completed their objectives, fighting through heavily armed Trandoshan mercenaries and the ship's autoturret defenses, which had been sliced by the Trandoshans, before reuniting and rescuing Sev. With Sev freed from his violent interrogation, the incomplete squad moved to retrieve Scorch from the Prosecutor's detention area. After a brief skirmish, Delta Squad located and revived Scorch, and together they made their way to the bridge, where they destroyed a Confederacy jamming device and re-established communication with their advisor.

After scanning the assault ship, 01/425 determined that a Trandoshan dropship had landed in one of the Prosecutor's hangar bays. Delta Squad headed toward the hangar, but a booby-trapped turbolift stranded them back in the ship's detention area under attack by Trandoshan mercenaries. Repairing the cell block's damaged systems, Delta Squad locked down the detention area, flooding it with noxious gas that neutralized the Trandoshans while the commandos remained safe inside their sealed Katarn-class armor. The squad escaped the locked-down detention area into a garbage pit, and proceeded to the hangar, where they used the Trandoshans' own rocket turret to destroy the dropship. A Lucrehulk-class battleship entered the system and rapidly approached the Prosecutor. While their advisor called for assistance, Delta Squad was tasked with repelling the droid boarding parties and sealing the assault ship's hangars. By the time Delta Squad reached the final hangar, it was heavily overrun with droids, so the commandos commandeered the roof-mounted mass-driver cannon of an AT-TE walker to eliminate the overwhelming droid threat. Although the Confederacy had initially sought to acquire the Republic warship from the Trandoshans in exchange for battle droids, following these losses, the battleship opened fire on the Prosecutor, intending to destroy it before reinforcements arrived. In an attempt to fend off the battleship, Delta Squad struggled to reactivate the Prosecutor's turbolaser battery array amidst the ongoing droid assault. Reinforcements arrived in the form of Republic Navy Captain Talbot and the RAS Arrestor, the only Republic force to respond to 01/425's calls for assistance. With the combined firepower of the Arrestor and Prosecutor, the Conferacy droid control ship was destroyed, disabling the battle droids aboard the Prosecutor and saving both the ship and Delta Squad's lives.
For their actions aboard the Prosecutor, Delta Squad was commended by High Jedi General Mace Windu, and the data they gathered helped the Wookiees combat Trandoshan slavers in the Kashyyyk system.

After departing the Prosecutor aboard a stolen, unarmed Neimoidian vessel, Delta Squad received a Red Zero signal, the GAR code for immediate extraction requested by another commando unit, Omega Squad, in the Tynna sector. Omega was trapped aboard a damaged freighter at the Corellian–Perlemian hyperspace intersection, lacking power and with limited oxygen, along with a trio of prisoners suspected of terrorist activity, captured during a previous Traffic Interdiction Operation. With no other Republic forces nearby, Delta Squad responded and arrived first on the scene. As Scorch initiated rescue operations, a Separatist ship of Neimoidian design arrived nearby. Before the enemy ship could attack, the RAS Fearless arrived from hyperspace, also responding to Omega Squad's Red Zero, and destroyed the Separatist craft with two hastily-fired missiles. Delta Squad successfully extracted Omega Squad and the prisoners, with Scorch cutting through the freighter's forward viewport and attaching a docking tube to their vessel. During their brief time together aboard Delta's stolen ship, Sev provoked Atin, an Omega Squad member, into a confrontation over their shared history as commandos trained by Walon Vau. The fight was broken up by Omega Squad's sergeant, Niner, before any blows were exchanged. Both commando squads docked aboard Fearless, and while Omega reunited with their friend Jedi General Etain Tur-Mukan, Delta Squad retreated to an isolated corner of the hangar deck to converse during the journey back to Arca Company Barracks on Coruscant.

Upon their arrival on Coruscant, Delta Squad exited the Fearless together with Omega. They were greeted by Kal Skirata, previously a Cuy'val Dar training sergeant and currently a military advisor for the Special Operations Brigade. Unfortunately for the four commandos, Scorch's disrespectful remarks about Skirata's age were overheard, leading to Skirata ordering the squad to complete fifty pushups. After they finished, though Skirata joked they only did forty, Delta assisted Omega in moving the three prisoners onto a speeder driven by Enacca, Skirata's Wookiee companion, for interrogation by Walon Vau, Delta's former training sergeant. Shortly after, a transport arrived to take Delta and Omega back to Arca Barracks. At 1500 hours, Delta met with Skirata and Omega Squad in a briefing room at the Special Operations Brigade Headquarters. Skirata attempted to ease the tension between the two squads, urging Atin and Sev to let go of their animosity and shake hands. When Ordo, the Null-class Advanced Recon Commando Captain, joined the meeting, Skirata informed both Delta and Omega that they would participate in a black ops strike against a terrorist cell operating on Coruscant.
Delta Squad, along with Omega and the rest of the covert strike team—which now included Jedi Generals Tur-Mukan and Bardan Jusik, as well as Vau and his pet strill, Lord Mirdalan—relocated to the top floor of Qibbu's Hut. This was a seedy cantina and hotel in Coruscant's Entertainment District, owned by Qibbu the Hutt, an associate of Skirata. In the days that followed, Delta Squad members rotated surveillance duties with Omega members. Despite personality clashes and conflicts between the two squads, they worked together effectively and developed a mutual respect. They successfully identified a traitor within the Grand Army's logistics center who was trying to meet with a Falleen contact. Using Qibbu's underworld connections, the strike team baited their terrorist targets with the promise of selling five-hundred-grade thermal plastoid explosive. Skirata acted as the public face of the team, meeting with the terrorists, including their leader Perrive, while Sev and Scorch, teamed up with Omega Squad's Darman and Fi, used Skirata's personal Verpine sniper rifles to mark the terrorists with specially designed tracers. After the terrorists, whose accents identified them as hailing from Jabiim, took the explosive sample for testing, Sev and Scorch returned to Qibbu's with the rest of the strike team. Later, while scouting the marked terrorists, Sev dislocated his shoulder trying to outdo Fi. Fortunately, Fi reset the joint, allowing Sev to continue the operation.

Following a meeting between Skirata and Perrive where they arranged an explosives drop, Delta Squad spent an evening at Qibbu's bar with the other strike team members. The celebration was interrupted by a call from Perrive, who moved up the timeline and changed the location. The new location, a CoruFresh produce distribution depot in Galactic City's Quadrant F-76, was one Delta Squad had previously scouted. Delta Squad and the other strike team members donned their armor, which they hadn't worn since the operation began, and prepared to eliminate the terrorist threat. Upon arrival, the squad split up: Sev partnered with Ordo, Fixer with Atin, and Boss and Scorch covered the depot's landing strip. Once Skirata and Jusik handed off the explosives as planned and cleared the area, the assembled troops struck, cutting the lights and attacking from all sides, including the roof. Delta Squad neutralized the terrorists who fled in the repulsor truck they had loaded with explosives, preventing a suicide detonation. Scorch narrowly avoided injury from a grenade strike, escaping with only a scare.
After eliminating all the terrorists in approximately nine standard minutes, Delta and the others returned to Qibbu's for a final night before attending an evening as guests of the CSF Social Club. Just six days later, Delta Squad was deployed to Skuumaa to sabotage strategic targets in preparation for the main Republic assault.

Around 21 BBY, Delta Squad was sent to Devaron after a major battle to search for survivors. Finding none, they recovered the bodies of Jedi Halsey and his Padawan, Knox, and returned them to Coruscant. Upon landing at the Jedi Temple, they were met by Jedi High Council Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi, Plo Koon, Adi Gallia, and Saesee Tiin. The Masters concluded that the deaths of the Roonan Jedi and his apprentice indicated a new threat to the Republic. Security footage of the massacre confirmed their suspicions, showing Halsey's death at the hands of an unknown assassin.

Four hundred and seventy days after Geonosis, Delta Squad was deployed to Mygeeto in the Outer Rim. Their mission was to call in air strikes and sabotage Mygeetan ground defenses near Jygat in preparation for Clone Commander Bacara and the Galactic Marines' main assault. Delta completed their objectives, but instead of exfiltrating, they chose to assist Vau in his personal mission to rob the Dressian Kiolsh Merchant Bank. While Fixer secured their snowspeeder on the surface, the other three members of Delta followed Vau into the bank, where Scorch electronically disabled the main vault door's locks. Inside, Vau refused further assistance, not wanting to compromise his trainees by directly involving them in the theft. During Vau's raid on the safety deposit boxes, Delta learned of his past as a disinherited aristocrat from Irmenu and that he sought to reclaim the inheritance denied by his mother and father. Vau ordered Delta to leave and continue their mission, but they refused, reminding him that he was now a civilian, and helped him and his strill carry the loot out of the bank.
Their exit was complicated when an alarm was triggered. Although Fixer moved the snowspeeder closer, Delta and Vau had to fight through an armed patrol of Muuns and battle droids. Vau fell through a hole in the ice into a crystal-worm tunnel. Despite Delta's determination to rescue him, Vau ordered them to leave him and escape. Reluctantly, Delta Squad exfiltrated from Mygeeto, struggling to accept their perceived abandonment of their former sergeant, especially Sev. However, Boss contacted Kal Skirata and Null Captain Ordo, at General Jusik's request, to inform them of Vau's situation. Skirata and Ordo immediately traveled to Mygeeto and rescued a hypothermic Vau from beneath the ice.

Upon returning to Coruscant, Delta Squad was debriefed by General Zey in his office at Special Operations Brigade Headquarters. Zey then informed Delta of their new orders: Supreme Chancellor Palpatine had ordered the capture of Ko Sai, a rogue Kaminoan scientist and Kamino's former Chief Scientist. Palpatine considered her capture nearly as important as locating General Grievous, the Confederacy's Supreme Commander. He wanted to deny her expertise to the Separatists and have an experienced cloner not associated with Tipoca under Republic control. He insisted Zey assign his best squad, leading to Delta Squad's selection. Ko Sai had disappeared during the Battle of Kamino and was suspected by Lama Su, Kamino's Prime Minister, of having defected to the Confederacy. Despite the time elapsed since her disappearance, Kaminoan intelligence tracked Ko Sai to Vaynai. Zey instructed Delta Squad not to inform Kal Skirata, knowing his intense hatred for Kaminoans. Unbeknownst to Delta, Skirata was also hunting Ko Sai, intending to use her to find a way to stop the accelerated aging affecting the clones.
Delta Squad followed the intelligence reports from Vaynai to Aquaris, and then to Napdu, the fourth moon of Da Soocha in Hutt Space. Boss was also suffering from a cold, with a cough and sore throat. Files from the Nar Hej Shipping Company on Napdu helped Delta trace Ko Sai's movements across aquatic worlds toward the Tingel Arm. As they transmitted the data to Special Operations Brigade and General Jusik, they were attacked by a Crusher-class starfighter while leaving Napdu in a Grand Army TIV. Delta landed on Da Soocha's third moon, with the Crusher in pursuit. On the ground, Boss used the TIV's laser cannon to destroy one of the Crusher's wings, while Scorch and Sev attacked the wrecked starfighter. Sev killed the pilot and copilot, which annoyed Boss because they couldn't be interrogated. However, Fixer accessed the ship's computer and discovered that the pair were bounty hunters hired by the Kaminoans to track Ko Sai.

Using data from Nar Hej Shipping, Delta tracked down Leb Chura, a Twi'lek freight pilot, to Kerif City on Bogg 4, where they interrogated him with Jusik's help. Chura had been moving cloning materials from Arkania to Dorumaa, but he had already given this information to Skirata and Vau. To protect Skirata's secret, Jusik used mind tricks to make Chura recall Mandalorians in green armor instead of Skirata and Vau's black and golden armor. After learning that Chura had delivered the consignment near Dorumaa's Tropix Island Resort, Jusik erased Chura's memory of both Delta and Skirata's group and deleted the records on his datapad. Despite this, Delta had their next lead and, after acquiring SCUBA trooper armor, traveled to the watery resort world of Dorumaa. Delta posed as utilities maintenance workers to gather surveillance. Intercepted police communications led them to a collapsed area under Tropix's neighboring ActionWorld island. There, they found the skeletal remains of a human chained underwater and the collapsed entrance to Ko Sai's former facility. Skirata and his crew had arrived first, captured Ko Sai, destroyed the laboratory, and taken her to Skirata's home on Mandalore. The squad was tasked with slowly excavating the area. They inserted a small strip-cam through an opening, finding the armored remains of Ko Sai's Mandalorian bodyguards.
After weeks of excavation under Jusik's observation, Delta Squad found no evidence of Ko Sai, as she had been taken to Mandalore. They remained loyal, covering for Jusik while he attended to the injured Fi on Coruscant. Five hundred and forty-eight days into the Clone Wars, Delta Squad was recalled to Special Operations Brigade on Coruscant, where they met Kal Skirata. Skirata gave Sev a package containing Ko Sai's severed head. She had taken her own life on Mandalore and was dismembered post-mortem. Sev delivered the head to General Zey for confirmation, omitting details of how it came into Delta's possession while truthfully answering questions. Zey congratulated Delta Squad on their success and granted them a day's leave.
Seven hundred and thirty-six days after the Battle of Geonosis, on the second anniversary of the Clone Wars, Delta Squad awaited assignment at Arca Barracks on Coruscant. Scorch and Sev encountered Kal Skirata and Walon Vau on the parade ground, reciting the names of fallen clone commandos in the Mandalorian tradition of honoring the dead. Sev and Scorch joined the ceremony, along with other commandos. At the end, Skirata encouraged the soldiers and wished them safety so they could see his young grandson grow up. As the crowd dispersed, Sev calibrated his HUD, while Scorch saw Vau and Skirata meeting with former Cuy'val Dar trainers Mij Gilamar and Wad'e Tay'haai for unknown reasons.

Several months later, approximately nine hundred and seventy days into the war, Delta Squad was on the Separatist-aligned Mid Rim planet of Haurgab. Mlaske and the Grand Army's 85th Infantry Brigade were already operating on Haurgab, and Omega Squad had been sent to assassinate a key leader of the pro-Separatist Maujasi. As the Republic increased its presence on Haurgab, Delta Squad was deployed there, much to their dismay. During a visit from General Etain Tur-Mukan, who replaced Bardan Jusik as commander of Delta Squad's Commando Group, Zero Five Commando, after Jusik's resignation from the Jedi Order, Delta Squad joined other clone troops in the mess hall of the Republic's base near Hadde. While Delta ate, the base was struck by a missile from the city. Many troopers were killed or wounded, but Delta Squad's Katarn armor protected them from serious injuries. Omega Squad also survived unharmed. Together, the two squads, along with Tur-Mukan and elements of the 85th and 14th Infantry Brigades, counter-attacked the rebel forces. As Delta and Omega rode into the city on patrol vehicles, supported by Nek Pup armored gun platforms, Scorch struggled with the base attack and the troopers' deaths. When they reached the missile's origin point, Scorch insisted on joining the raid team while Delta secured the area. Omega Squad's Darman breached the door with a breaching grenade, and Scorch threw another grenade inside before following Atin and Corr, Omega Squad's replacement for Fi after his brain injury on Gaftikar, into the house. Four rebels were captured, and three were killed. Scorch dragged the rebels' bodies into the street and riddled them with blasterfire before spitting on them. Tur-Mukan spoke with Scorch, offering to ease his mind with the Force.
Nine hundred and ninety-seven days after the Battle of Geonosis, just over four weeks after Haurgab, Delta Squad attended a secret meeting between Walon Vau and General Arligan Zey. Zey asked Vau to watch for anti-Republic actions by Kal Skirata. While the squad doubted Skirata would jeopardize the clones, Vau told Delta to stay out of it. The next day, they were present as Vau reported to Zey that although the culprit accessing the Republic Treasury wasn't Skirata, Vau had dissuaded Skirata from causing further trouble. Vau stated his intent to extract the true culprit from Republic Domestic Security custody for questioning. Despite Delta's offer to help, Vau declined and instructed them to focus on their next mission.

Approximately 1,070 days had passed since the Battle of Geonosis when Delta Squad received orders to proceed to Kashyyyk, the Wookiee's planet of origin, situated in the Mytaranor sector. A Separatist-supported invasion, carried out by Trandoshan slavers, resulted in the capture of the Wookiee leader, Tarfful. Tarfful had dedicated many years to fighting against the Trandoshan slavers, and his absence led the Wookiees to seek assistance from the Republic. Consequently, Delta Squad was dispatched to Kashyyyk with the objective of rescuing Tarfful, a mission in which they would once again be under the direction of Advisor 01/425.
Delta Squad executed a clandestine insertion onto Kashyyyk using LAAT/i gunships, descending to the surface of the planet from the gunship's troop bay. After landing, the squad navigated through the dense jungle until they encountered the Trandoshan slaver camp. After fighting their way into the camp, they were caught off guard in a confined hallway by Trandoshan mercenaries positioned on elevated walkways, which forced them to escape through a maintenance shaft towards a designated landing area. After securing the landing zone, the commandos briefly saw a Belbullab-22 starfighter, which they recognized as General Grievous' personal ship, the Soulless One. As they continued through the slaver's base, Delta liberated several imprisoned Wookiees while searching for Tarfful, before Delta's advisor gave the squad a new task: confirming Grievous' presence on Kashyyyk. Delta climbed a tower near the General's landing pad, and they managed to visually confirm Grievous' presence before almost being attacked by one of Grievous' IG-100 MagnaGuards. Delta Squad hurried down the tower and discovered Tarfful being escorted to Grievous' fighter by two MagnaGuards. Tarfful managed to eliminate the droids on his own, but Grievous escaped the planet in his starfighter, leaving behind two more MagnaGuards. Grievous initially wanted to capture the Wookiee chieftain alive for interrogation, but after being denied that opportunity, the commander of the Separatist Droid Army ordered Tarfful's death to prevent the Republic from gaining valuable intelligence. Delta Squad engaged the deadly droids to protect Tarfful, but the Wookiee warrior refused to retreat from his attackers. Together, the commandos and their Wookiee ally defeated the droids, and Tarfful was transported to Coruscant to request further Republic assistance.

With Tarfful freed, Delta Squad launched an assault on another Trandoshan encampment located within the forests of Kashyyyk. There, they discovered that the camp was not just another Trandoshan slaver camp, but a Separatist supply base and a staging area for a large-scale attack on Kashyyyk. Knowing this, Advisor 01/425 instructed the squad to infiltrate the encampment and inflict as much damage as possible on the Separatist operations. During the assault on the base, Delta encountered an armed minefield that they managed to disarm, but the mines were reactivated by the arrival of several droidekas. Delta used the Separatists' own mines to destroy the attacking droidekas and continued to a nearby landing pad. Delta Squad fought off waves of Trandoshan mercenaries, reinforced by a Trandoshan dropship carrying supplies and fresh troops, and destroyed the landing platform before receiving orders to shut down the base. The squad encountered an advanced spider droid, which they destroyed by dropping a cargo crane's payload on top of it, before being joined by a LAAT/i gunship that eliminated the remaining droids and extracted Delta Squad from the Trandoshan base.
At this point in time, 1,070 days after the Battle of Geonosis, Jedi General Etain Tur-Mukan was dispatched to Kashyyyk to join Delta Squad by Arligan Zey. Although Zey was confident in Delta's ability to complete the mission independently, he believed that Tur-Mukan's presence would be beneficial. After destroying the Separatist–Trandoshan staging base, Tur-Mukan explained the importance of the Kachirho bridge to Delta Squad. If the bridge were destroyed, the Separatist supply lines would be severed, while the Wookiees could construct smaller bridges to bypass the loss, an option unavailable to the Confederacy's battle droids.

Delta moved through a contested market concourse, fighting their way through numerous Trandoshan grenadiers and heavily armed mercenaries, supported by a Wookiee defense force protecting their homes, tearing Trandoshans apart. After battling another advanced spider droid and countless battle droids on top of the Kachirho Bridge, Delta Squad placed a detonation pack at the bridge's weakest point. However, when Boss attempted to detonate the charge, the explosives malfunctioned. Undeterred, Scorch borrowed a rocket launcher from a female Wookiee and used it to destroy the bridge. Thirteen days later, Delta continued operations on Kashyyyk, even as Coruscant came under siege by General Grievous. While preparing to ambush a Separatist droid patrol, Scorch and Sev overheard comlink traffic from Coruscant, learning that only commandos in the Inner Rim had received the Code Five signal to immediately return to Coruscant. When General Tur-Mukan expressed concern for her loved ones on the besieged Republic capital, Delta Squad comforted her, and when she revealed that she had a son, they promised to keep her secret. Although the battle droid patrol fell into Wookiee-made pitfalls, Delta and Tur-Mukan ambushed a small group of Trandoshans scouting through the Wroshyr trees, disposing of their bodies in a carnivorous plant.
Five days later, after the crisis on Coruscant had ended, Delta Squad was joined on Kashyyyk by the clone forces of Jedi General Quinlan Vos, who arrived from Boz Pity. Additionally, General Yoda was en route with the 41st Elite Legion and Wookiee Chieftain Tarfful, scheduled to land in thirty standard minutes. However, a Recusant-class light destroyer had positioned itself to engage Yoda's ship and prevent the landing of additional soldiers. With some encouragement from General Tur-Mukan, Delta Squad infiltrated a Separatist turbolaser battery complex to commandeer the firepower and eliminate the Recusant-class ship. While Clone Commander Gree considered alternative landing sites that were too far from the main battle to be effective, Delta Squad captured one Wookiee dual missile turret for each commando and opened fire on the Commerce Guild destroyer, joined by a group of General Vos' LAAT/i gunships. After sustaining significant damage, the Recusant destroyer began to fall. While the majority of Delta Squad prepared for a quick exit, Sev radioed in that he was under attack from multiple hostiles. When Boss ordered the squad to return for Sev, Vos' air support instead ordered Delta to leave, stating that the order came directly from General Yoda. Despite Scorch's tearful protests, Boss forced him to comply and moved the remaining three members of Delta Squad onto the gunship that had arrived to extract them, but not before apologizing to Sev.
Onboard the gunship, Advisor 01/425 contacted Boss via hologram and ordered him to regain control of his squad. The advisor then patched through a transmission from General Yoda, who stated that Delta Squad's efforts had enabled the Republic to establish forward command in Kachirho and that the Republic would continue to rely on their skills in the upcoming battle. Delta Squad was then assigned a new set of objectives for Kashyyyk.
Shortly after the Republic's actions on Kashyyyk concluded and Order 66 was issued, branding the Jedi as traitors to the Republic who were to be executed, the Clone Wars ended as the old Republic was transformed into the new Galactic Empire, under the rule of the now Emperor Palpatine. Approximately 1,100 days after the Battle of Geonosis, the three surviving members of Delta Squad found themselves stationed at the Imperial Army Training Center on Centax-2, one of Coruscant's moons and the location of Palpatine's secret Spaarti cloning cylinder-based second clone army. There, they continued to mourn Sev's loss, especially after learning that while Omega Squad members Atin and Corr had deserted the Grand Army, Darman and Niner had joined Delta in the new Imperial Army because Darman refused to abandon a severely injured Niner.
Three weeks after the Empire's formation, Delta Squad, with a new replacement for Sev, gathered at the 501st Legion headquarters on Coruscant with other former Republic commandos and Advanced Recon Commandos to meet with Darth Vader. Vader reorganized the Republic's former special operations soldiers as the Imperial Commando Special Unit, an elite unit within the Imperial 501st Legion tasked with hunting down Jedi who had escaped Order 66, as well as clone deserters, Jedi sympathizers, and other Imperial dissidents. Their serial numbers' "RC" prefix was replaced with "IC" to signify their new role as Imperial Commandos, and the squad was given a different, more numerical name, similar to Omega Squad's designation as "Squad 40." Initially under the command of the Emperor's Hand, Sa Cuis, the Imperial Commando Special Unit was taken over by Imperial Commander Roly Melusar, a native of Dromund Kaas with a strong hatred for all Force-sensitives, after Cuis' death. While Fixer was impressed by Melusar's straightforward command style, Melusar's zealous hatred for the Jedi and all Force users led Scorch to nickname him "Holy Roly," a name that stuck within the ranks of the Imperial Commando Special Unit.

RC-1138, known as "Boss," was Delta Squad's Sergeant and leader throughout the Clone Wars. As a soldier, Boss earned the respect and loyalty of his squad, and he strived to be a strong and effective leader. Relatively quiet, Boss was not verbose, and his communication often consisted of orders to the other members of Delta Squad. Despite being raised and trained by Cuy'val Dar sergeant Walon Vau, Boss spoke with Jango Fett's Concord Dawn accent and speech patterns, a common trait among flash-learned standard clone troops. Boss cared deeply for his squad and considered his squadmates as brothers, like most clone commandos.

RC-1140, or "Fixer" to his comrades, was the recognized second-in-command of Delta Squad and a soldier who believed in following protocol. Fixer was the squad's expert in technology and was the go-to man for slicing and code-breaking. Gruff and serious, Fixer often addressed his squadmates by their numerical designations rather than their nicknames. Fixer frequently attempted to curb the playful teasing between Sev and Scorch while in the field, although he occasionally participated in the verbal sparring during downtime.

RC-1207, known as "Sev" after the last digit of his designation, was Delta Squad's most skilled sniper and perhaps its most aggressive fighter. Sev enjoyed combat and adorned his commando armor with blood-red markings that sometimes appeared to be real blood. Sev had a dark sense of humor and a strong desire to succeed, believing that any failure would disappoint his training sergeant, Walon Vau. Although he deeply respected Vau, Sev also felt jealousy towards the commandos trained by Kal Skirata, who treated his trainees like sons. A common joke among Delta Squad was that Sev was a psychopath, with some suggesting that his cloning tank had been tampered with during gestation. Sev kept track of every Geonosian he killed during the Clone Wars, aiming to reach 4,982, the number of clone commandos killed during the Battle of Geonosis, for which Sev sought revenge.

RC-1262 earned the name "Scorch" after an ordnance accident that temporarily left him and his training sergeant, Walon Vau, without eyebrows. A capable soldier, Scorch served as Delta Squad's explosive technician, handling demolition and rapid entry duties, a job he enjoyed. In addition to his explosive skills, Scorch had a well-developed sense of irony and served as the squad's resident wisecracker, finding humor in almost any situation. Scorch often engaged in verbal sparring with Sev, maintaining a brotherly relationship of playful teasing and friendly rivalry. Despite being the jokester of Delta Squad, Scorch was furious when Delta Squad had to abandon Sev.

Like all Republic commando squads in the Grand Army of the Republic, Delta Squad's commandos wore Katarn-class commando armor, which was stronger and more durable than the standard armor worn by regular clone troopers. Each member of the squad decorated their armor with unique paint schemes and colors. On occasion, the commandos used dirt and moss to create impromptu camouflage on their armor. Their helmets featured advanced heads-up displays (HUDs) and sophisticated comlink systems that could broadcast long range or appear silent to those outside the squad channel or even the wearer's helmet. Delta Squad also used the DC-17m Interchangeable Weapon System, and while each commando had preferences for certain attachments, all were proficient in using each one. The DC-15s blaster pistol was the standard sidearm for Delta Squad and all clone commandos. Delta also utilized non-standard weaponry acquired during missions and had access to specialized equipment like SCUBA gear. After joining the Galactic Empire as Imperial commandos, Delta received new black Imperial commando armor but were allowed to keep their old DC-17 rifles.

Delta Squad debuted in the 2005 Star Wars game, Star Wars: Republic Commando. The squad later appeared in the Republic and Imperial Commando series of novels by Karen Traviss, starting with the second book, Republic Commando: Triple Zero, where Delta joined the main story after the second mission in the original game. Delta Squad continued to be featured in Traviss' Republic Commando novels True Colors and Order 66, as well as the first Imperial Commando novel, Imperial Commando: 501st.
The events of Delta Squad's mission to Kashyyyk are portrayed differently in the video game and Order 66: A Republic Commando Novel. In the novel, Delta's advisor is absent, with Jedi General Etain Tur-Mukan and later General Quinlan Vos' Forward Air Controller filling his role. There are also minor changes in dialogue and actions taken by Delta Squad's commandos. This article attempts to reconcile these differences, with Order 66 taking precedence when a compromise is not possible, as it is the more recent source.
Hasbro created an action figure of Scorch in early 2006, which, along with Foul Moudama, marked an initial exploration of Expanded Universe characters. Scorch was produced in limited quantities and sold out quickly, making him rare and highly sought after. At Comic-Con 2006, it was announced that the rest of Delta Squad would be made into action figures as a set of four, along with three Geonosian warriors. The seven-figure set was exclusive to StarWarsShop.com in the Fall of 2006. A smaller set with all 4 Commandos and a Geonosian Warrior was later released as a Comic-Con/Internet exclusive and as a Toys 'R' Us exclusive in August.
During the game, Delta-62 exclaims, "That was for Delta-23...or was it 32?", suggesting a potential friendship with a fallen member of another "Delta"-designated unit.
