Torian Cadera

Torian Cadera, a Human male, was a Mandalorian warrior. He was the offspring of Jicoln Cadera, who stood in opposition to Mandalore the Vindicated. Driven by a desire to restore honor to his clan, Torian allied himself with the Grand Champion of the Great Hunt to pursue his father on Taris, ultimately integrating into the Hunter's team after the mission's completion. For numerous years, Torian journeyed alongside the Hunter, enduring a brief abduction by the GenoHaradan on Hoth. Following the Champion's disappearance during the early stages of the Eternal Empire conquest, Torian responded to the summons of the new Mandalore the Avenger and eventually rose to become the leader of the diminished Clan Cadera. Alongside other Mandalorians under the banner of the new Mand'alor, Torian aided the Commander of the Alliance in their opposition to Zakuul through a raid targeting the Darvannis factory, subsequently formally enlisting with the Alliance as Shae Vizla's representative. As a participant in the war against Zakuul, Torian commanded a squad of Mandalorian Commandos during the Invasion of Voss, playing a role in freeing the city of Voss-Ka. While attempting to retrieve the Gravestone from the Eternal Empress Vaylin, Torian and other members of the Alliance found themselves ensnared by ARIES on the fabricated world of Iokath, where they collaborated to escape before a radiation surge engulfed the planet. When Vaylin initiated an assault on Odessen, the location of the Alliance base, Torian spearheaded a contingent of Mandalorian Commandos in support of Bey'wan Aygo, until their position was overwhelmed, leaving Torian as the sole survivor. The Alliance Commander was then faced with the difficult decision of rescuing either Torian or the Twi'lek escape artist Vette, with the latter's capture ultimately leading to her demise at the hands of Vaylin.

Biography

Early life

Jicoln Cadera, the head of the Crusader's schism and an adversary of Mandalore the Vindicated, was Torian's father. Torian was born on Geonosis, a Mandalorian stronghold world. Throughout his life, Torian dedicated himself to overcoming the stigma of being the son of a traitor. However, in the eyes of other Mandalorians, the shadow of his father always seemed to loom over him. Because of the constant reminder of his clan's shame among his peers, Torian adhered to the Mandalorian codes of honor and traditions with more devotion than many warriors twice his age. He always strove to prove his loyalty to Mandalore. During the Cold War, Torian participated in battles and traveled with his people, teaming up with Clan Ordo on Eriadu to demolish a weapons manufacturing facility, navigating through sniper fire and minefields along the way. The situation became complicated when they discovered resistance fighters concealed among the workers. They managed to evacuate as many civilians as possible before detonating the factory using thermal detonators.

The honor of Clan Cadera

In the year 3642 BBY, Torian made his way to Dromund Kaas, the capital of the Imperial, to join forces with other clans in eliminating a dangerous Sithspawn known as Akure. Coincidentally, the most recent Grand Champion of the Great Hunt had been tasked by Mandalore the Vindicated to slay the Sithspawn, and they successfully completed this mission. Torian later discovered that his treacherous father was hiding on the planet Taris. Driven by a desire to cleanse his clan of his father's dishonor, he journeyed to Taris, where, under the command of Vorten Fett, he embarked on a search to locate and eliminate his father. During this mission, Torian crossed paths with the Champion once again, who was also in pursuit of Jicoln to claim the bounty placed on him on the Blacklist. Working together, Torian and the Champion tracked Jicoln to his secret location and ultimately confronted him. After being defeated, Jicoln exchanged a few words with his son before Torian killed him, thereby restoring honor to his clan.

Travels with the Hunter

Torian extended an invitation to the Champion to join their crew, with the aim of pursuing another Blacklist bounty, before his new friend was placed at the top of the Republic's Most Wanted list. With the entire galaxy now pursuing them, Gault Rennow suggested working for the Hutts, a proposition that Torian vehemently opposed. Before tensions escalated into conflict, with Gault arguing that he's been dodging poetic justice since before Torian was born, they received a summons from the Sith Lord Darth Tormen. Tormen proposed that the Champion work for him, promising retribution against the Jedi Battlemaster Jun Seros and Supreme Chancellor Dorian Janarus for targeting them in return. While the Champion was pursuing Zale Barrows on Belsavis, Torian was captured by the clandestine assassination organization known as the GenoHaradan. He was lured into a trap after receiving a meeting request from a friend. The Champion tracked the kidnappers to Hoth, defeated all of the captors, and freed Torian.

During the Eternal Empire conquest in 3636 BBY, the Champion disappeared. The Champion's crew made attempts to locate their leader, even infiltrating the Spire on Zakuul, but they were unable to find their target and eventually ran out of funds, abandoning their goals. Eventually, everyone except Torian and the slicer Mako had left to pursue their own ends, leaving the two to resume bounty hunting by themselves, enduring the exile. When the new Mandalore the Avenger summoned all of the Mandalorian clans, Torian answered the call and left Mako on Carratos, confident she could care for herself. Torian would rise up to become one of the new Mandalore's top advisors alongside Khomo Fett, eventually became the chieftain of Clan Cadera even though its numbers dwindled.

War against Zakuul

At Mandalore's Side

Torian Cadera on Darvannis

In 3630 BBY, Shae Vizla received an offer from the newly formed Alliance, which was opposing Zakuul, to conduct a raid on a weapons factory located on Darvannis. This presented the Mandalorians with an opportunity to strike back against the Eternal Empire and replenish their armaments after a prolonged campaign. Torian performed reconnaissance on the factory's perimeter defenses, reporting his findings to Mandalore and the Alliance Commander, whom he joined in capturing the perimeter guns and reprogramming them to target the factory. When Breyer Chorn reported that he and his men were being overrun by Skytroopers, Torian stated that there was no honor and being killed by machines and attempted to target Chorn's location for an artillery strikes, killing the warriors along the droids, before being stopped by the Alliance Commander. The next day, Torian again joined the Commander in neutralizing the enemy forces at the Zakuulan listening post in preparation for the main assault. In there, he overheard the Commander's advisor Lana Beniko suggesting that the Mandalorians were animalistic in nature and that rearming them could potentially prove dangerous in the future.

With the factory's power stations taken overs by Clan Beroya and Clan Fett warriors, Shae Vizla gathered the warriors to rally them before the final assault. The main Mandalorian force moved into the factory to claim as many weapons as possible, while Torian accompanied the Commander on a mission to secure the GEMINI Prime, the template for the GEMINI captains of the Eternal Fleet. Inside the factory, Torian revealed that he overheard the previous conversation between the Commander and Beniko and insisted that the Mandalorians were not animals, but warriors with a sense of honor. The Commander was successful in retrieving the PRIME and in the aftermath of the battle Torian requested the Mandalore to join the Alliance as her representative, which Shae Vizla granted.

Joining the Alliance

Torian Cadera leads the Mandalorian warriors during the battle of Voss.

Torian made his way to the Alliance base situated on Odessen and later played a role in its defense during the battle of Odessen. During the battle of Odessen Eternal Emperor Arcann was dethroned and his sister Vaylin claimed the Eternal Throne. When she launched an invasion of Voss, Torian joined the Alliance's effort to liberate the planet led a team of Mandalorian Commandos against the enemy forces occupying the city of Voss-Ka. He also brought a Republic walker named Storm Rider that was used by the Commander and Theron Shan in traversing the path to the Shrine of Healing.

Torian subsequently joined a team assembled by Theron Shan to assist Lana Beniko and the Alliance Commander in retaking the Gravestone from Empress Vaylin and her forces. Theron's shuttle with Torian, Vette, Kaliyo Djannis and Aric Jorgan inside landed inside the hangar of Gravestone just before SCORPIO took control of the vessel and launched it into hyperspace on a locked course. The ship emerged from hyperspace in Iokath system, where Torian was the first to notice the entire Eternal Fleet around them. Vaylin and her remaining forces were found to be sabotaging the ship, with half the Alliance personnel spreading to stop the sabotage, while Torian remained with the other half to defend the ship's bridge. However, they were unable to stop Vaylin, who overpowered both Kaliyo Djannis and Aric Jorgan and took Torian and Vette hostage, but was unable to hurt them before a blinging white light engulfed the ship.

Trapped on Iokath

Torian Cadera finds Theron Shan and the Commander.

Torian regained consciousness on the surface of the artificial world Iokath, surrounded by hostile droids. After battling his way through them, Torian arrived at the Selruvian biome, where he encountered the Alliance Commander. The two observed the Iokath droids attacking the Knights of Zakuul, deducing that both Alliance personnel and everyone from aboard the Eternal Fleet had been separated and placed into combat simulation-like scenarios. Theron Shan established contact with the Commander and Torian, directing them to a structure known as the Tributary, where the remaining Alliance forces had gathered. There, their position was once again attacked by droids, compelling the group to seek an alternative escape route. The Commander and Vette advanced ahead, while the others eventually followed, meeting them at a disabled colossus droid. At that location, Theron realized that, despite being unable to locate the Gravestone, he could still utilize his implant to remotely pilot the Alliance shuttle that remained in its hangar.

However, before they could depart on the shuttle, SCORPIO made contact with the group and revealed that ARIES, the droid in control of Iokath, had activated an energy shield that would destroy any vessel attempting to leave. With ARIES re-charging the weapon that incapacitated them to begin with and promising to use it again on a lethal setting, the only way out was to stop ARIES. SCORPIO revealed that ARIES base was located in the southern hemisphere and Theron dropped off the Commander and Vette there to deal with ARIES, while the rest went to reclaim the Gravestone based on the shuttle's last known location. SCORPIO herself arrived to help the Commander defeat ARIES, however the capacitors on ARIES' weapon overloaded, threatening the cover the entire world with a pulse of deadly radiation, which the Gravestone just barely managed to escape to hyperspace to avoid.

Endgame on Odessen

Pinned down, Torian asks the Commander for assistance.

Vaylin later launched an assault on Odessen, during which Torian led a group of Mandalorian Commandos to assist the forces of Admiral Bey'wan Aygo, but their position was eventually overrun, with Torian left as the last one left standing. Torian made a call to the Alliance Commander for help, but the Commander was forced to choose between rescuing either him or Vette.

Mandalorian Civil War

Torian Cadera on Ruhnuk

When Shae Vizla went to confront her challengher Field Marshal Heta Kol on Ruhnuk, Torian Cadera joined Akaavi Spar as reinforcements for the Mandalore, Alliance Commander and Rass Ordo. Rass proposed that Shae and the Commander go to the Ruhnuk Communications Tower while the rest secure their position. The Commander stopped by to check up with Torian, who wondered if Shae was too quick to step from her role and chase down her prey. While the Mandalore and the Commander were gone, the others were attacked by a Clan Varad patrol but were able to fight them off and stood their ground. Akaavi and Torian went chasing after the stragglers, while Rass went towards the arena where the duel between Shae Vizla and Heta Kol was to take place. Heta Kol presented to the Hidden Chain the Clan Cadera banner and pronounced it a symbol of shame and treachery. She then burned the banner to signify the Hidden Chain's rejection of the Mandalore and her ways.

The duel that followed soon turned into a full-blown battle between two Mandalorian factions, in which Torian fought close at the Mandalore's side. When Shae Vizla was incapacitated, Torian moved to assist the Commander against the Hidden Chain and make their way to Shae Vizla's position. The fight ended when Heta Kol and the Hidden Chain escaped the planet, after which Jekiah Ordo and the Commander helped Shae Vizla off Ruhnuk while Torian observed the destroyed banner of Clan Cadera in shock. Shae Vizla was taken to a medical facility and attended by medical droids, and Akaavi Spar and Torian Cadera stayed with her while Rass and Jekiah Ordo remained outside.

Personality and traits

Having spent most of his life trying redeem his clan's honor from his father's betrayal of Mandalore the Vindicated, Torian upheld the Mandalorian code and traditions more than most other younger Mandalorians. He embodied each of the Mandalorian ideals in hopes of striving the respect and honor of his fellow Mandalorians. Even when insulted by his fellow Mandalorians like Jogo, he didn't react and remained calm about it.

Torian expressed a strong dislike towards slavery, calling it like hunting mice. He had shown also to be against the idea of working for the Hutt clans, seeing it as going against his honor. When on the pirate hideout world of Rishi, he was interested in the native people, the Rishii, saying they would make good Mandalorians for their natural hunting skills.

When the Eternal Empire invaded the galaxy and the Grand Champion disappeared from the galaxy, Torian finally had his chance to prove his loyalty and duty to his people as he volunteered for the most dangerous of missions against the invaders, becoming very successful in these missions enough to earn the respect of Mandalore the Avenger. Like most Mandalorians, Torian Cadera was not afraid put his life on the line if it meant protecting his friends or completing a mission, having very little fear of death.

Equipment

Torian wore a lighter version of the TH-15B War Medic armor colored classic yellow and brown and a jetpack. His armor had a wrist mounted blade and a flamethrower, while his primary weapon was either a techblade or a small techstaff. He was also often seen armed with a Blaster pistol and/or a Sniper rifle. During the war against the Eternal Throne, Torian switched his armor to a unique set of dark blue Mandalorian armor and the sniper rifle became his primary weapon.
