Zab, a male being, held the rank of sergeant within the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry, more famously known as Twilight Company. He commanded a squad that successfully infiltrated a surveillance hub on Haidoral Prime with a smuggled astromech droid. Furthermore, he aided First Sergeant Hazram Namir's squad in their overrun of an Imperial outpost located on Coyerti. During a boarding action, he also led a heavy-fire team onto an Imperial heavy freighter.
While on Mardona III, Zab, along with Gadren and Mzun, expressed reservations regarding the safety of non-combatants when Namir suggested utilizing a residential building as a defensive fallback, although their concerns were ultimately dismissed. Following the crash of Twilight Company's CR90 corvette, the Thunderstrike, on Sullust, Zab and his team joined the recovery operation to rescue survivors and established a makeshift sniper's position to provide cover for their fellow soldiers.
Circa 5 ABY, Zab continued his service with Twilight Company—now operating under the banner of the New Republic, the Alliance's successor—during a campaign taking place in the Cerberon system. The sergeant at one point embarked on a reconnaissance mission to the planet Catadra before his return to the primarily urban planet of Troithe. There he shared a meal with fellow soldiers and the majority of the New Republic's Alphabet Squadron, recounting the events surrounding the fall of Yordain Core.
After the Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing inflicted heavy losses on the New Republic forces within the Cerberon system, compelling Twilight Company's personnel to abandon their posts, Zab met up with several others at a speeder depot. During their conversation, he recounted the company's experiences on Sullust. This splinter group from Twilight Company then proceeded towards the Scar of Troithe, where they initiated an assault on the Core Nine mining megafacility. During this engagement, Zab and his troops breached the facility and aggressively engaged the defenders, communicating their discovery of the facility's control center via his comm.
Zab experienced the fall of Yordain Core, including a priest-king's blessing. During the Galactic Civil War, he was a member of the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry, more commonly known as Twilight Company, eventually achieving the rank of sergeant. Zab assumed command of his own squad, which First Sergeant Hazram Namir described as "idiots who could make a hydrospanner backfire". In 3 ABY, Twilight Company attacked the planet Haidoral Prime. On the concluding day of the campaign, Zab and his squad managed to sneak an astromech droid into the surveillance center located within Haidoral's capital city, Haidoral Administrative Center One, with the intention of broadcasting a message across the public address system, encouraging willing civilians to enlist with the company.
After their departure from Haidoral Prime, Twilight Company initiated a campaign on the planet Coyerti to safeguard its inhabitants from the Empire during their breeding season. On the opening day, Zab's squad collaborated with Namir and his squad to attack a network of sensors and perimeter sensors forming an Imperial scout post. Prior to their deployment onto Coyerti, both teams coordinated their attack strategy. Approaching the scout post from opposing directions, the two squads secured victory in under ten minutes, signaling each other upon the battle's conclusion. Zab expressed a desire to seize the enemy speeders, but Namir dissuaded him, citing the likelihood of embedded homing beacons. Both squads then vacated the scout post five minutes later to evade reinforcements in the form of TIE/sa bombers.
Following their exit from Coyerti, Twilight Company, aboard their CR90 corvette the Thunderstrike and its escort, the Braha'tok-class gunship Apailana's Promise, endured three separate attacks by Imperial forces due to a traceable trail left by the Thunderstrike's malfunctioning hyperdrive. Twilight Company's leadership convened and decided to board an Imperial mining ship to acquire the necessary supplies for repairing their corvette. Zab was among those selected for this undertaking.
Twilight Company targeted an Imperial heavy freighter operating within the Redhurne system. Utilizing boarding pods, Zab spearheaded a heavy-fire team at the forefront of the assault, breaching blast doors alongside the heavy-fire team led by the soldier Carver. Upon Sergeant Fektrin's signal for a full retreat, Zab and the other squad leaders acknowledged and initiated the withdrawal of their respective squads. An Imperial Gozanti-class cruiser eventually entered the fray, prompting Twilight Company's captain, Micha Evon, to grant the squads a five-minute window for evacuation. All squad leaders issued commands to their teams and returned to the boarding pods, with Sergeants Fektrin and Maximian Ajax perishing during the evacuation.
Shortly after the Battle of Hoth, Twilight Company commenced Operation Ringbreaker, which involved targeting several Imperial worlds in advance of their primary objective, Kuat Drive Yards. Their initial target was the planet Mardona III, where Twilight Company was deployed via dropships, descending from the surface through tunnels to attach ion mines to the tramways. On the subsequent day, Namir directed the squads to assemble beneath a residential block, intending to use it as a fallback position. Zab, along with the alien soldiers Gadren and Mzun, voiced concerns about endangering civilian lives, but Namir proceeded with his plan regardless. After a six-day duration on Mardona III, Twilight Company returned to the Thunderstrike aboard the dropships.
Later in Operation Ringbreaker, Twilight Company captured the Inyusu Tor mineral processing facility on Sullust. However, the Thunderstrike was downed before it could extract the company from the planet. Namir led a rescue mission to recover survivors and salvage the corvette. Zab's squad established a makeshift sniper's nest to provide cover for those salvaging medical equipment. Twilight Company defended the Inyusu Tor facility against the local Imperial forces on Sullust. The company emerged victorious and departed the world afterward.
In 4 ABY, the Alliance achieved a significant victory in the Endor system, resulting in the death of Emperor Palpatine. Twilight Company continued to serve with the Alliance as it transitioned into the New Republic, with Zab remaining among its ranks. Around 5 ABY, Twilight Company joined a battle group commanded by the Twi'lek General Hera Syndulla in a campaign within the Cerberon system, a cluster of planets orbiting a blackhole. During the campaign, the company was stationed on Syndulla's Acclamator-class transgalactic military assault ship Lodestar and engaged in combat throughout the districts of the planet Troithe.
On one occasion, Zab was present at Twilight Company's camp inside the Lodestar with a number of other soldiers when a trio of pilots from the New Republic's Alphabet Squadron arrived. Sergeant Carver engaged in conversation with Nath Tensent, a BTL-A4 Y-wing assault starfighter/bomber pilot, who remained with the RZ-1 A-wing interceptor pilot Wyl Lark to socialize with the dozen soldiers including Zab, Twitch, Vitale and Junior. Tensent learned Zab's name during these interactions.
Several days later, Zab embarked on a reconnaissance mission to the planet Catadra, another world within the Cerberon system, where he witnessed an event that reminded him of the fall of Yordain Core. Upon his return to Troithe, he joined a number of other soldiers who were sharing stories with most of the pilots of Alphabet Squadron over dinner at a refugee camp. During this gathering, Zab recounted the incident on Catadra and, consequently, the events surrounding the Yordain Core. Chass na Chadic, an A/SF-01 B-wing starfighter pilot, responded with her own account of her time as a member of the Cavern Angels, an X-wing starfighter squadron that served the extremist rebel cell known as the Partisans.
As the Cerberon system campaign progressed, Alphabet Squadron and the rest of the battle groups fleet prepared for the arrival of the Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing while Syndulla departed to the Bormea sector to assist the New Republic's Vanguard Squadron. Namir and half of Twilight awaited the fighter wings arrival on an asteroid approaching Troithe, anticipating the 204th to land on the asteroid, to slaughter their pilots. However, the fighter wing out-smarted the New Republic fleet and destroyed the Lodestar, although the 204th's capital ships were too lost.
With the New Republic's fleet in the Cerberon system crippled, the 204th proceeded to force Twilight Company's squads from their positions in the districts. Zab fled to a rendezvous in the Highgarden District at a three-story speeder garage, joining a number of soldiers including Carver, Twitch, Junior and the Alphabet Squadron pilots Tensent and Lark. While the New Republic personnel awaited more arrivals, they told stories, and Zab mentioned Twilight Company's time on Sullust, commending the late Thunderstrike.
With half of Twilight Company stranded on an asteroid, Carver assumed command of the splinter group of the company which had amassed in the Highgarden District on Troithe. Carver's group, Zab included, made their way to the Scar of Troithe, a mined out continent on the planet. In that time, Lark picked a handful of the soldiers to fly refurbished aircraft for his new squadron to give the group air power. Carver and the other senior personnel began planning an assault on the Core Nine mining megafacility, which the group hastily began after the 204th started directing their forces to the facility.
Twilight Company launched an attack on Core Nine soon after, with Lark's squadron providing air support. Tensent created a breach in the facility as Zab and other soldiers pushed towards it, advancing across open terrain despite being completely exposed to enemy fire. Zab and Twitch then led an assault into Core Nine, entering through a gap in the duracrete walls. While Twitch's squads secured carved through enemy lines corridor by corridor, Zab's rushed the defenders, bringing some success. After finding an unlit control center, Zab reported back over his comm, mentioning the mining controls as well as the heavy opposition that his soldiers were facing towards Core Nine's hangar.
As the battle progressed, Syndulla returned aboard the MC75 Star Cruiser Temperance with Vanguard Squadron. The 204th escaped soon after aboard a freighter that had been docked in Core Nine's hangar. With the battle won, Syndulla's battle group proceeded to liberate the Cerberon system and rescue Namir and his half of Twilight Company from the asteroid, bringing the company together again.
Zab was a male individual with fluency in native Sullustan. Following the capture of an Imperial scout post on Coyerti, the sergeant expressed a desire to commandeer the speeders, although Hazram Namir successfully dissuaded him. When Namir proposed using a residential building as a fall back position on Mardona III, Zab was among those to raise concerns for the civilian's lives. Despite finding the Lodestar prettier than the Thunderstrike, he thought that the latter vessel could ultimately not be beaten as a troop carrier. During the attack on Core Nine, Zab had his soldiers rush the defenders inside, calling the enemies bastards.
Zab made his debut in the 2015 novel Battlefront: Twilight Company, authored by Alexander Freed.
